Sitting in my endocrinologist office I started trying to remember all the head coaches since I moved to WNY. I remembered Jauron, Gailey, and Marone. Forgot (subliminally) about Ryan.

At the bottom the search return was a link which read 18 more 🤯 Aside from Marv Levy and Sean McDermott not a single coach lasted more than a couple of years. Holy Schnikes!

Greg Williams is 3rd with 4 seasons. Everyone else is 1-3 seasons and gone. I didn't look at other teams but dang! For Buffalo that's a head coaching change every 2.8 years.

No wonder everybody's so quick to chop heads every couple of years. Granted I know why 6 of the last 7 didn't last but still, dang!

Wow

So what you’re trying to say is it’s WAY past time for McD to be gone. Good….we agree. 👍

It's the way it is with every fanbase these days. Fans want instant gratification. Bengal fans were screaming for their HC to get fired 8 games into a season after they made the Super Bowl because they lost in the AFCCG. They are screaming for it again this year.

Fans remind me of Veruca from the first Willie Wonka movie (the Gene Wilder classic, not the crud remake) "Don't care how....I WANT IT NOW"

Bills already interviewing McDermott replacements - the search will be far and wide and include other sports .... first up Torey Lovullo of the Diamondbacks

McDermott's been here for what, 7 years now?

That's more than most coaches get

I was thinking how McD gets a lot of love because even though he may not be the one to take use to the promised land, he is still so much better than several in the drought. You cant get worse than arrogant stupidity of Williams, the angry dysfunction of St.Doug, the bumbling ineptitude of Rex or the 1000 yard stare of Dick Jauron!

Coaches get fired a lot because they usually suck and it doesn't take 10 years to figure that out.

Blaming the fans for bad coaches getting fired for being bad is wrong.

It really depends culture in ownership and GM, not so much the fans. Look at the Steelers. They've had 3 coaches and stood pat on Bill Cowher when fans were screaming for him to get fired a couple of years during the Slash era. All fans get crazy when things go bad. It just depends how much of a trigger finger the owner has. I think the longer a team stinks, the happier that trigger finger gets. And the Bills have had long stretches of suck!

Especially when you have an owner like Ralph Wilson who had major trust issues.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Steelers have had only three head coaches over the past 55 years. During that stretch, they went to eight SBs and won six.

The coaches you mentioned: Jauron, Gailey, Marone, Ryan, and Williams all sucked. Bad hires that never should have been given the job. McD has been a decent coach but every coach hits his ceiling with a team and reaches a point when it's time to move on. The jury is still out on McD, but he is showing clear signs that he is not the guy to get us a championship.

Probably because Bill Cowher didn't have a losing season until year 7.

He was a good coach. Tomlin is a good coach.

Just because the prostitute down the street did a good job for you the past few years, but never could get the job done don't mean you have to keep paying her when her services are old and tired. You replace her with a new one with more skills right down the street!

I think Buffalo is one of the most rewarding places to play in the NFL and also one of the most difficult. I recall reporters asking Rodgers how he would fair with the New York media and he said Green Bay might not be a big market, but it has a really big spot light.

I'm curious as to why you'd think Buffalo would be one of the most difficult places to play in the NFL?  Rewarding I get, nice small market feel, good cost of living, you can be part of the community...I don't see difficult.  The media in WNY is not exactly hard hitting.

I view it as a pretty small fish tank where everything you do is hyper analyzed
