Wish he’d of gotten the fill in job on OBD Live. Surely he would of wanted it.

He knows football much more than Maddy and be far less grating to listen to.

that's the worst part for him. he buys all of it. every little bit. he ignores the stuff he is clearly involved with. whether willfully or neglibly.

he's part of the biggest problem in buffalo media

It's 10 games into 2023 and he's still gassing up McDermott for this great culture he's built.

Like nobody else in America could have done this with the Bills.

This post is ridiculous.

What else are we going to B word about?  Who else should we yell and scream needs fired?

Sal is probably THE most informative media guy covering the Bills.  IMO he doesn't come off anything but.

I have a solution.  Don't listen

I don't listen to his show.  I don't really understand why he comes on the morning show, when he has a 2 hour show himself from 10-12.

Who said anything about career aspirations? It was a job I held after I came out of college til I joined up in the USAF. Honestly though, most broadcasting jobs pay very litte.

But to your point, I'm quite sure that the determining factor for most people, for most jobs, is what they will get paid (just as it is for most pro athletes). And also, the less they are tasked to do, the happier they are....again, speaking for most people. The latter is why so many people are screaming like a cat being held over a toilet after being told they need to get their butts back in the office and stop working from home. LOL

not true.

Some people are motivated by money and will do as much more as they have to for more money.

some like the power

some like the relationships or the teams

some have some passion they want to pursue

some want to make a difference or like the cause

not everyone’s career goal is maximum pay for minimal effort  - whenever my job feels too easy I start looking for more to do myself.

maybe sal is disenfranchised because the glamour or fun has washed away.

Some people try to be the smartest in the room.  Some people like to hear themselves talk.  Some people are overcompensating for something.   Who knows

It did take like 20 years to get where we are. But, yeah, anyone can do this job.

Money and/or benefits will ALWAYS be the #1 factor as to why someone takes a job.

As someone who worked in public education for a decade, I can assure you that's not the case for everyone.  That being said, I agree with what you're saying in a macro sense.

The minute he starts trashing Sean, he loses all access to the the team. It's self preservation. Same goes for Chris Brown and Tasker. Both Bills employees. Last week Tasker said the Bills would be "punting the season" if they fired Dorsey. Yesterday, he said something had to change.

This to the max ^

People need to realize WGR is the flagship station and your never going to get strong sweeping takes from most of the people in Sal or Brown or Taskers shoes. It is state radio and the message is controlled in a certain way. If I am not mistaken Brown was even suspended for a week or two for making a relatively light slight about the team last year

Overall the entire way sports and media are received is entirely different from the old non/early internet days. Newspaper, radio, even TV use to compete with each other in a triad balance and that was the main way of receiving information. As the internet and social media grew all of this changed to a point it is not as controllable or the main focal point. Some of the best analysis I get is from non brand NFL groups like Cover 1 / Yards Per Pass etc... where they truly break down what is happening and have at least informational backed takes not just bias. Twitter or X whatever it is can give you more analysis then anything the the Bills Show can, so in a sense for the Bills or any team they have to be even more controlled in messaging at this time. I am a big hockey fan and I listen to a lot of podcasts because frankly the content is superb and some of the people are ahead of what most teams are doing in evaluating their own lineup.

Hot Take Radio must be an exhausting career

I think it's this honestly. I litterally heard some old dude call sal's show this morning and say the issue with the offense is that Diggs is a cancer in the locker room. How long could anyone deal with those kinda calls and takes

Kind of surprised to see how many people don't like Sal.

Not saying I agree with everything that he says but I honestly can't stand most of the callers that call in with every hot take under the sun and provide nothing to support their comment other than "because that's what I would do".

Yeah, not sure what the deal is.  I've always like Sal.  Seems like a regular guy who knows and loves football, generally respects most everyone, and seems to enjoy his job.

Sure getting here with Peterman and Tyrod, ok.

But with Allen!

This is the best we can do?

You know what? You're right, bring him back next year.

I heard that as well, I wonder how people like that put their pants on in the morning, much less operate a phone.

He also mentioned that they should have fired the special teams coordinator because they have a cancer in the locker room.  I wasn't aware Diggs was so involved in special teams.

Just like most of these local media and talking heads, all these guys pretty much know they have to sugar coat things in Orchard Park so they don't get blacklisted by the Bills organization (or their own employer for that matter).

His partner Matt Bove is a lot more realistic though and doesn't offer these ridiculous homer takes even as this trainwreck continues to get worse.

"Cancer in the locker room"

Now that's Buffalo sports in a nutshell.

More concerned about guys "not wanting to be here" over athletes that make plays that help you win games.

I listened this morning and thought he had an interesting insight about Josh’s mental/emotional state.  Sal compared Daboll’s personality to Dorsey’s and suggested the whole offense has taken on Dorsey’s flat-line emotional state, as opposed to Daboll’s firey personality. It make a lot of sense and is the first logical thing I’ve heard that explains Josh’s change in demeanor.

Yeah, no, I think this is right.
