That leaves only Anaheim and the Collesium. And you can bet Al Davis will ride in at the last minute and claim he owns the L.A. market. Los Angeles does not act like a city itching for NFL football. Rubes Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Maybe not, but the NFL can still use it as leverage to get sweeter stadium deals for its owners...

Arkady Renko Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Hmm.. actually is there any city that used to have an NFL team in the last forty years that does not have one now outside of Los Angeles?
BRH Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Hmm.. actually is there any city that used to have an NFL team in the last forty years that does not have one now outside of Los Angeles? 353435 Yes, there are three: New York, Anaheim and Boston. Also, technically, Memphis, which had the Oilers for a year. St. Louis lost the Cardinals and gained the Rams. Baltimore lost the Colts and gained the Ravens. Houston lost the Oilers and gained the Texans. Oakland lost the Raiders and regained them. Cleveland lost the Browns and regained them.
Mark VI Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 The Los Angeles Coliseum is too old for the NFL, with the current emphasis on premium seating and modern facilities. A new stadium costing a fortune is a given. Besides, USC football averages over 85,000 a game. Who is going to give up watching an elite College team for NFL tickets ? It's been 10 years since LA had a team and there's a legit reason for the absence. They don't support NFL football.

OBXBILLSFAN Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 They don't have real fans in LA, just phonies who show up to be seen and leave when the game is half over.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 They don't have real fans in LA, just phonies who show up to be seen and leave when the game is half over. I think you meant Miami.
Fan in San Diego Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 The thing with So- California football teams is that there are so many fun things to do on a Sunday, that the game has to be pretty darn good to attract a big crowd. With so the NFL being pricey and stiff competition for time and entertainment dollars that the product has to be very good to win the time and money battle. There are a lot of fun free things to do as well.
Arkady Renko Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I think you meant Miami. 353522 I truly feel that Miami fans are more legit. Look at Lakers games to get a sniff of what a luxury box laden stadium would mean for football in LA.
OBXBILLSFAN Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I think you meant Miami. 353522 Yeah, them too. Got to go off to South Beach to mingle with the gliteratti.
