Broncos @ Bills - Postgame Thread

Texas A&M just paid over 75 million dollars to get rid of Jimbo Fisher, who I think is more of a football guy than McDermott.  Imo McDermott is primarily a self serving salesman.

McDermott sold Pegula a line of s#%t with the "process" term that he co-opted from Nick Saban. Pegula bit like a fish and gave him the big majority of, if not full power in the organization. Now we are stuck with poor performance, questionable free agent signings, limited cap space, and lousy, primarily defense based drafts.

It is way past time to fire McDermott. He should have already been booted out the door, or at least had much of his power taken away. At this point, he should be fired today or later this week.

I guess Russell Wilson is still pretty good, huh? Don’t see Denver getting much credit in here, but they got it done and got the W.

 

Also, that last PI was just mind numbing. All our guy had to do was turn his head around and he would have had an easy game ending pick. Just more poor execution by a pro athlete...the best of the best in the world. 🙄

It will likely take care of itself.  They are going to get pasted by the Eagles, Cowboys, Chiefs and Dolphins in Miami, and possibly the Chargers as well.  Pegula won’t want to go through another coaching and GM search but the chorus will be too loud by the end of this stretch.

alright, i don't say much all the time due to connections but i want to make one thing clear to people who do not know.

 

there is a reason why Sal always defends the defense a little more gentle than others and it is not that he is wrong - but you'll always notice he comes in hard lined defending them.

 

his best contacts in the team to let him know what are going on are 3 or 4 players on defense and very few on offense. he also speaks a lot and quite confidently with mcdermott. he has admitted before and it is clear that he has to take certain approaches and be careful about burning bridges or crossing any players with their trust.

Think of being a defensive player on the Bills and waking up this morning, nearly unable to crawl out of bed because you gave everything you had for 37 minutes and change last night, mostly defending your half of the field with little margin for error, only to have it ripped away from you at the end due to some of the worst coaching and execution possible in the other two phases, and a blindingly stupid zero blitz called on your last play, plus having to play 10-on-11 every time Von got wheeled out there, and thinking you have to do this all over again on a short week.  

It’s like being a fan, except the pain is physical as well as mental.

I kinda did too. I'd usually be upset right now but I'm kinda just numb but watching red zone , parity is at an all time high and there is no definitive SB team imo. It was SF and Bal but both have had ugly losses. 

More than anything,  officiating is killing the game for me. 

I think we can win any given week or lose any given week and it's like that with majority of teams. Excluding the awful ones - Giants, Panthers etc which likely lose

Saban has been using that term for decades. It is in his unauthorized biography (dated 2015) and he has been using and employing the term before he even got to Alabama.

 

That said, you may be correct about the 76er guy. I don't know, but perhaps both of us can agree that McDermott parades around as if he invented the word "process." McDermott imo is a flim flam man.

 

And btw, I think that the "process" seems to have worked fairly well in Alabama.

I do give him credit for coaching the Bills to relevancy, for getting respectable players and making the team honorable (for lack of a better word)

And yet ... He now has an undeniable track record of gaffes, lack of preparedness and underwhelming schemes. The O is such a mess and I can't understand what happened to this team after the Green Bay game last year. Several here said that last year was emotionally hard on the team. I didn't fully buy into that explanation and this year is devolving as we speak. 

I sorely miss the period from 2020-mid 2022. We dominated teams and there was no opposing lead which was safe against us. 

To have such a record with a talent like Allen (who is clearly disinterested and unmotivated) is a fireable offense.

Additionally I want to add if you pause at :07 of the video; Allen is quite literally looking at a receiving group that has three guys lined up in a row and both outer routes running deep. The scheme in of itself seems to look and make Allen make split second decisions as well trying to make it as physically difficult as possible. Gabe Davis having option routes being just an example of there being too many extra permutations.

 

Effectively Josh is in his own head because the staff had beaten him over the head with not running and forcing him to both predict where the defense will go as well as his own receivers. To this point a guy could easily be open but Allen may not notice because he has so many other thoughts being processed. Far too much is schemed to require specific circumstances to play out or Allen, "Save Us." 2 weeks in a row he was baited into trying fades to the left; part of me wonders if they were the Option #1 and if Allen doesn't feel he has the time or good routes elsewhere to the point that he almost feels like he has to throw there. Then he just prays it works.
