Bad Things Man Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Is it just me or does Josh look a lot slower running the ball. Back in his rookie or second year some of his runs were clocked in the 20 mph range and he was making d-backs and LBs look silly running by them. Seems like now when he finally does run he has trouble beating defensive line. Anyone else notice this? 1 1 2 3 4 Quote
Success Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Kind of hard to gauge. He has had very few runs in open space this season. I think he had 1 designed run against Cincy, and it was through a crowd, so it was more picking his spots than accelerating. 1 1 1 Quote
RobbRiddick Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) So this week we've learned that Josh Allen is: Slowing down Not going through his progressions Seems a bit depressed Misses his ex Still isn't studying film Only wanted Dorsey because he's his buddy Has an allergy to pistachio's (talk about bad luck) Has lost his passion for the game I may have missed a few. Just how many ladders did this guy walk under in the offseason? Edited November 7, 2023 by RobbRiddick 3 1 1 27 2 2 1 Quote
transient Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I don’t see that as much as seeing him run with less abandon when he does run now. I think he looks for places to bail now, whereas before it was always full steam ahead. 1 Quote

Personally I highly doubt his straight line speed and acceleration has decreased significantly in 2 or 3 years if we assume his playing weight as constant over that period of time. It’s more likely what you’re seeing with regard to him looking slower getting around the edge of the D line is Allen keeping his head up and looking downfield for a passing option for a longer period of time, instead of just accelerating and taking off. 1 Quote

Buffalo Boy Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I agree. I also don’t think he has as much zip on his ball anymore. (I know, the announcers talked about him bruising hands on one crosser to Kincaide) He has decidedly been arching balls he use to throw on a rope , since the beginning of the season. Maybe it’s on purpose but I’m suspecting maybe not. This league takes a toll. 1 2 1 2 Quote

That said, I do think he is a tad slower compared to past years. 1 Quote

They mentioned during the game how Kincaid dropped a ball because it was thrown so hard and how Gabe Davis gets bruised hands because of Josh’s throws Quote

ShakAttack Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 One of the fastest straight line runs I’ve ever from Allen was against Miami in last year’s playoff game which wasn’t too long ago… I haven’t seen any runs like that yet this season, but he’s also avoiding that part of his game more than ever this season unless he absolutely NEEDS to do it, which is why we started to see it in the 4th quarter against Cinci and, if anything, I thought he made some nifty moves… Quote
DapperCam Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Nah, he’s just had a lot less runs 1 1 Quote
