Mango Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I actually thought the soft zone paired with the constant 5-6 man rush really hung out secondary out to dry. They were better the second half. I’ll have to rewatch before I marry myself to anything, but the eye test says Dane was not born one of my top 3-5 issues with that game. Dane has been streaky. He has been white hot for stretches of games and awful too. In general I think he’s a decent piece and plays lights out when he has a very good secondary around him. He isn’t good enough to stand alone on the outside. It is what it is. Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Dane Jackson was the best defensive player for the Bills yesterday, and it wasn't close for second place. 3 PDs that I counted. 2 Quote

Jackson was actually one of the best players on the field yesterday. 72 grade per PFF 5th highest on the defense..........which is notable for him he's been a tick late all season. Quote
Ya Digg? Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 Watch him on the Sample TD. No it's not his guy - he is initially covering Chase, then peals off once he sees the pass go to Sample. He puts in such little effort to get to Sample (and Rapp makes a terrible attempt at a tackle) then gives up completely. Quote
BillsFanForever19 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Jackson played with his hair on fire last night. Probably the best game I've seen him play. I think it was an anomaly, but still, a really odd time to have this take. 1 Quote
JimBob2232 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Dane had a great game overall...but man - that play...I saw it too. no effort on that play. Quote
jkeerie Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Dane Jackson was fine. Taylor Rapp not so much. He's the one that whiffed on the third TD. Quote
Ya Digg? Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 If I'm off the clue me on to plays he made last night Quote

The one semi-decent okay he made all night he ended up inadvertently injuring Hyde. He got incredibly lucky on 2 throws against him-one that Boyd dropped going into the endzone and the deep ball where he was BADLY burned by Chase and Burrow under threw him. The last straw for me was the touchdown by the bengals tight end. The tight end leaked out and Jackson was the closest defender (though not very close. Jackson put in little to no effort to actually try to catch him, he just kind of jogged after him. I’m tired of watching him play 10 yards off, watch his guy catch it what seems like 90% of the time, and never make an impactful play. Thank God for Douglas who will hopefully take his place on the field!! Odd choice today IMHO, as he was mentioned all night for making positive plays against the Bengals. I mean he was probably our best DB yesterday and led the team in PBU's too. No disrespect to you or anyone else...but I can't understand how anyone can complain about our injury depleted defense right now because they have done enough for us to legitimately be undefeated had our offense been playing up to its capabilities. But our offense has failed to get it done in all 4 losses, and the inconsistent no identity offense almost cost us 2 more losses to Giants and Bucs. Not to mention, the defense was arguably the best defense in the NFL the first 4 weeks before the injuries happened and was first in sacks, INTs, Turnovers, point differential and 2nd in PPG allowed. And despite all the injuries, its held well enough for us to win every game, but the offense is not doing its part at all and its why we are 2-3 in our last 5 and honestly were 1 play away from losing each of those 2 wins too because the offense was anemic in the Giants game and the 2nd half of the Bucs game. 7 minutes ago, Ya Digg? said: If I'm off the clue me on to plays he made last night He led the team in PBU's and was praised all night by the commentators for being all over the field. So I have to agree with others, this is an odd take today as it was one of his best games IMHO. 2 2 Quote

Roundybout Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 What? He single-handedly saved a touchdown to Chase. Might have done it twice, actually. Quote

At least not a fan of him being a starter and getting most of the snaps. He’s fine as a backup, but in my mind he’s been exposed as a starter 1 2 Quote
