Well at least Jimmy G can laugh all the way to the bank.   It was foolish not to see that he needed a really strong team to be successful.  He was never going to be the QB that could carry an offense

Funny, and I wouldnt put it past Davis, but the money says unlikely.

If the money is guaranteed, how does benching him get them out of it?

And there are people on this board that think we have a terrible GM.

The injury guarantee is the big one they are trying to avoid

It's an injury guarantee.

They owe him $11M guaranteed next year. If he were to get injured seriously this year, it would double to about $23M guaranteed next year.

We've all seen their OLine.

Benching him ensures he wont get injured and they are only on the hook for $11M.

It's terribly structured and far too convoluted. Raiders have no idea what they are doing.

Well 22 mil for a middle of the road starting QB is honestly not terrible. Tannehill makes 30 for example, Goff makes 33. The problem is Jimmy G isnt a starting QB on anybody but the 49ers right now. He's washed up. If they were planning on starting a vet, they should have just kept Carr

Yeah I think the issue is being stuck paying even $11M to a guy who likely wont even be on the team next year, let alone $22.5M. If he was starting and serviceable, it wouldnt be so bad. But Raiders will be paying tens of millions of dollars next year to a bunch of guys who dont even show up to work at those offices anymore. Yikes.

Oh yeah it’s bad management. And if the rumors are true Davis wants to bring in Harbaugh….
