CowgirlsFan Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 RIP Thank you for your contribution to the game of basketball 🏀 Quote
Low Positive Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 I know that he was a difficult man and I probably agree with him on very few things, but that man to man D and motion offense was a thing of beauty. Hop Hoo Hoo Hoosiers! Quote
BillsPride12 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 His coaching style wouldn't fly today but what does that say about where we have gotten in society today? Anyways he has his place in College Basketball and even Sports in general history. RIP 1 Quote

CookieG Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 When my time on earth is gone, and my activities here are passed, I want they bury me upside down, and my critics can kiss my ass! ~Bobby Knight 1 Quote
CookieG Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 My favorite Bobby Knight story came from a local sportswriter in Kansas. Bob Hentzen, was a local writer for a small newspaper in a small Kansas city. Hentzen said his interaction with Bobby Knight no more than asking him a question once or twice during a press conference. Later, when Hentzen was battling throat cancer, in the mail one day, a multi page, hand written letter full of inspiration and encouragement. The letter was written by Bobby Knight, and was written at a time when Knight was still coaching at Indiana. Its a side to Bobby Knight that isn't usually mentioned, but as Hentzen said, the idea that he would take the time and effort to send words of encouragement to someone he had met, only in passing, was touching. 2 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Oh man!! This dude was a legend...those Hoosier teams back in the 80s and early 90s were amazing! RIP...the tough angry coach who became a gentler old curmudgeon with a soft side as he aged... Quote
Another Fan Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 RIP. Im not sure I’d call myself a fan but I respected his style. Many many memorable clips. I mean for all the times in life you’re sick and tired of an 8-10 record and losing to Purdue! Quote

But I'd like to think his heart was pure. Pure being an ironic word when describing Bob Knight! But more or less imparting his style on them to prepare these kids for a world that will easily chew anyone up and spit them out. 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 RIP, I have memories of enjoying watching his meltdowns on Sports Center (when it was still good). Quote
stuvian Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 He was a man for his time whose methods didn't age well Quote
