ArdmoreRyno Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 I honestly can't remember. Last year, all the talk was about CMC (look what he's done to help the 49ers). This will be another "nothing" burger as usual. Signing dudes who are sitting at home or on a practice squad isn't going to push us over the edge this season. Quote
Gregg Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Bennett was then dealt to the Buffalo Bills from the Colts in a three-way trade that also included Los Angeles Rams running back Eric Dickerson and Bills running back Greg Bell. This trade occurred in the fall of the 1987 season, just before the trade deadline, and has been called "the trade of the decade" by The New York Times. 5 7 5 2 Quote

Big Turk Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) Cornelius Bennett. He basically single handedly destroyed the Broncos in his first game here. Edited October 30, 2023 by Big Turk 9 1 1 Quote

Max Fischer Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Impactful NFL deadline trades are very rare. The prices are usually steep for even a half-season rental. GMs need to be sure that the player will be significantly better than whoever is on the current roster. 2 1 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Yeah, Cornelius Bennett. Next question… 1 1 Quote

All_Pro_Bills Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Giants traded DL Leonard Williams to Seahawks for a 2024 2nd and a 2025 5th with the GIants retaining salary. Why with connections to the Giants GM and HC could the Bills not swing something comparable? Quote
Charles Romes Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Leonard Smith in 1988 was a great acquisition. Not on the eve of the deadline 2 Quote

But I’d say the final moves to make us SB contenders were the addition of Thurman and the hiring of Marchibroda as OC. 1 Quote

It's not the NBA or the NHL where rentals are the norm. The trade deadline is generally a nothing burger league wide. Yet every year at this time the board is flooded with Trade for this guy or Trade for that guy. And if nothing happens tomorrow, people will be freaking out and saying Beane is asleep at the wheel. When the truth is, odds are, no one's going to do much of anything league wide. Trades are very rare. I'd be happy if we did anything. Even if it isn't a big needle mover and just a depth move.
