Fournette has long been one of my least favorite RBs to watch/have to root for as a kinda sorta Bucs fan. Hopefully this is purely a depth signing.

He made Tom Brady take a lot more hits than he should have due to his horrendous pass blocking and I believe is ranked among the worst pass blockers in the league every season since he was drafted. Not a good runner either.

His huge, late runs sealed the victory for the Bucs in that SB.

Yeah "Laid-off" Lenny is not an upgrade on Murray if that's what people think.   Pretty amazing to see a guy with seemingly so much physical talent have such an underperforming career.   Consistently below league average yards per carry........lousy yards per reception.     If he had been a 2nd rounder or later I bet he'd have been out of the league a couple years ago.

There was about a year and a half at LSU where he looked like he was going to the NFL to become a first ballot HOF back.

Then he looked like he just started mailing it in or protecting his investment or something before he finally got hurt in his last year.

God gave him every tool in the box, expected him to build his own heart and he wasn't interested.

I am guessing this is more about Damian Harris being out longer than might be expected. They do need a third RB, if only for depth.

I won't dispute the fact that Fournette had poor average yards per carry last season and that his career average of 4.0 is not impressive.

That said...it would only be fair to mention that Fournette had over 1,000 yards from scrimmage each of the past two seasons, whereas Murray has not had over 1,000 yards from scrimmage since 2016.

And you can easily say "well, fournette has had more snaps and more opportunities", and that's true. But of course then the question of "WHY has Fournette consistently had more snaps and more opportunities than Murray?" should logically follow.

Fournette is not a world beater, but neither is Murray. They both offer similar things (power running, pass catching ability, pass blocking ability). Your assertion that Fournette is no better than Murray may be true, but it's no sure thing/slam dunk either way. At the very worst, Fournette is an upgrade over Ty Johnson.

Also, I believe the Bucs OL was worse than ours last season

Fournette looks to be in exceptional shape.  He is still only 28

I suspect over the next month he will earn RB2

down the stretch and in the playoffs he could be a valuable piece in the offense

Fournette plays with a physical mean streak that no one else on the offense at the skill positions has

Tom Brady loved and trusted this guy, which is a significant endorsement of his value to the team

I hear what you're saying and definitely think he's underperformed for his career, given what was expected, but he's an unorthodox all-purpose guy.

In 3 of his 6 seasons he's tallied 69, 73 and 76 receptions.  For that kind of usage, I can give a little on the rushing numbers.

Add in that he's excellent in pass protection and the total sum of what Fournette gives you is pretty valuable.

Wgr said Murray has been stuffed like 5 times at the goal line this year and Lenny is a goal line specialist. We need to punch it in

Even Fournette with his quads on the back and front of his legs won't score from the shotgun handoff...Dorsey you mother*&#!er 🤬🤬

Curious to see if he get playing time this week or if it’s just another Nyiem Hines deal…. Sign him and he doesn’t get on the field or his number called.

You know we all wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

They didn't elevate him this week.
