He just needs Dorsey and Josh to call his number. Almost like Josh avoids throwing him the ball 1 2 Quote
Mister Defense Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Nice move! With 668 rushing AND 523 receiving last year, this gives the Bills a much better running back situation. They were too light in that area and if they are to contend this year the running backs, including their receiving, must become an integral part of the offense. But, will Dorsey use him soon? Or wait until the world is screaming that is he not using him? 1 Quote

DCOrange Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 (edited) Fournette has long been one of my least favorite RBs to watch/have to root for as a kinda sorta Bucs fan. Hopefully this is purely a depth signing. He made Tom Brady take a lot more hits than he should have due to his horrendous pass blocking and I believe is ranked among the worst pass blockers in the league every season since he was drafted. Not a good runner either. Edited October 31, 2023 by DCOrange 2 2 2 Quote

Not a good runner either. I have no idea if this is true or not - but I find it hard to believe TBrady hand picked a back who was ***** in pass pro. In fact when I heard this signing, underwhelming as I found it, my next thought was based on Brady - I bet he's at least good in pass pro 1 Quote

In fact when I heard this signing, underwhelming as I found it, my next thought was based on Brady - I bet he's at least good in pass pro Unfortunately he is not. I think he’s literally the lowest rated pass blocker in the NFL since he joined the league on PFF and having watched most Bucs games every year, he routinely missed reads and got Brady lit up. He was also low key terrible at short yardage runs and also zero threat for long runs. He does have good hands as a receiver though (but we should be wanting Cook to get those reps). I think Brady, like so many before him, loves the idea of Fournette without realizing what kind of player he actually is (and Tampa admittedly had nothing at RB so they were desperate for any sort of veteran help they could find). Still, if he’s just a third RB or whatever you can do worse. If we had any semblance of a RB screen game, he could be helpful there. Edited October 31, 2023 by DCOrange 1 Quote
BigAl2526 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 The main drawback with Fournette versus Damien Harris is that Fournette has never been a special teams player. You get an offensive contributor and nothing more. Teams tend to look for special teams contributions when a guy is not a starter. Cook is the unquestioned starter. Quote
Norcalbillsfan Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 As much as I want cook on the field, this move makes things tougher for defenses. Cook has been awful in pass pro at times. Lenny can catch, block, and lower his head for yards. He's a back that has power but can just as easy burn you on a dumpoff. Quote
BaaadThingsMan Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 The more I think about this pick up the more I like it I think he'll get some run Especially in pass pro, he's big enough to hold up and they may need it coming up Quote
SoCal Deek Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 While this is interesting in that everyone knows his name I can’t see this as anything more than a replacement for Harris. Let’s hope Fournette stays healthy. Quote

Since1981 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Our GM making moves that surprise. when will HC/OC do anything close to creative or unexpected?? Quote
WotAGuy Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 So what I’m gathering is Lenny will provide the pass pro that Cook lacks. The down side is Lenny sucks at pass pro. Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 #5 is cool for a RB, I like it 2 Quote
CNYfan Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I think @DCOrange has PTSD from when Lombardi Lenny ran for about 600 yards against Syracuse when he was with LSU back in his college days. 3 1 Quote
davefan66 Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Be interesting what his role will be. Cook has done a great job and deserves to be the primary back. Fournette can add to passing plays and 3rd downs for sure. Funny thing is I truly thought he’d been in the league a lot longer than 6 years. Quote
