Jags game : offense seemed completely lost

last week : offense seemed completely lost

this week : defense looked completely lost

they don't train these situations ? looked unprepared, no clue about what to do

I don't get it

Why on earth would Jordan Phillips grab Baker’s face mask when he was stopped dead to rights. This is Sean’s weakness as a defensive coach. No discipline, no individual accountability and veteran players putting their frustration ahead of team success. Sean is definitely an impediment to this team fulfilling thei destiny.

Amusingly, Andy Reid had long been famous for terrible clock management at the end of halves. Some apples don't fall far from the coaching tree.

Can Andy Reid share the therapist who made him find the light ?

Yeah, but that play went on several beats longer than it should have. Slow whistle led to further wrestling which led to the facemask grab.

I believe his name was Patrick Mahomes.

Situational Football.

Some coaches like Reid and Belichick drill their guys constantly with all sorts of random situations so they are never caught off guard.

Our guy cant even figure out to sneak it when you need 6 inches. 🤷‍♂️

It seems to be our identity: playing to not lose.

In some games every year under Mcdermott, we played to win. We didnt let the others teams came back in the game. we didnt let them breath.

But, most of the time, we played to not loose. We just stopped playing, just waiting for the clock or something like that, on defense and on offense.

This identity, bend but dont break...dont take any chance...let's hope for a mistake... clearly affect even the offense.

An average team could really have a good season with this kind of indentity.

But, there's no way a Team can take the next step by playing to not lose like that.

We will always be in most of the game. We will always be tough to beat, no doupt about it.

Then, I dont think we could win 3 or 4 games in a row against playoffs teams and real contender by playing like that, with this kind of indentity.

13 seconds and the OT in that game told us all we have to know about this identity, play to not lose.

They have to change that mind set. They have to learn to play to win. It's all on Mcdermott.

To be honest our defense isn’t going to shut anyone down completely at this point. They will for spells here or there but never for a full 4 quarters unless the opponent is horrendously bad and off that day.

Yesterday was a great game all around however I am concerned with the offense again. A TD to open the second half but not much after. Complete flip the script game from the ones prior. Seems there’s trouble to have a full game where we can score.

That will hopefully change however and if it does there won’t be any need to worry about the defense. With the exception of the 9ers, who I feel lean on a balanced team overall, most top teams throughout the league rely on their offense to win them a game and the defense to make a stop here or there. Chiefs, Eagles, Fish and Jags all come to mind.

Why wouldn't the refs blow the whistle when the QB is in a 330 LB dudes grasp moving backwards?

Kept stalling out, never went for much of a kill shot either.  I miss the deep balls up 14 in those situations.  We kept them deep for the most part which definitely helped the defense get stops and prevent FGs etc.

Exactly.  Without mahomes reid is just a really good regular season coach.

It was always something for reid's teams in the playoffs before Mahomes.  My personal favorite was the loss to the panthers in 03 where Philly had every advantage and made the championship on a miracle 4th down play at GB.  Then they got manhandled at home.  The difference between those teams and the chiefs is Mahomes.

I could have sworn the actual facemask was after the whistle had blown.  Doesn't matter though.  It was just coincidental that his hand hit the mask there.

The D holding call on 4th, bump at line... TOTAL BS.  Facemask play was after...

Oh come on! Taron Johnson held the receiver the ENTIRE play. That's an easy (and totally correct) call.

Look, I think McD has way too much faith in this defense considering the injury situation.  I do think we need to be more aggressive, but I'm not sure if I trust Dorsey to be consistent or creative enough to manage that.

So it's a rock and a hard place kind of situation.
