Hey, wouldn’t be a free country unless the paranoid schitzo could have easy access to a rapid fire heavy rifle amirite?

For all the right wingers on here, where was the John Wayne/God Savior with a Gun that I’ve heard so much about?

They would show you if everybody had a gun this wouldn’t happen

That is usually the standard SOP

Which is why they constantly are posting data about per capita gun ownership and per capita gun deaths.

The Lewiston, Maine shooter has been identified as former U.S Army sergeant Robert Card who served 20+ years in the Army.

Card had previously been arrested for possession of child pornography and is a registered sex offender.

I've seen reports that this part relates to a different, much older Robert Card.

The Army part is confirmed. Prior mental health issues also confirmed.

Why weren't there any? Maine is a right to carry state.

I suspect a lot of gun people talk tough about what they would do in an active shooter situation.  But if you think about it, if you pull your gun out and start shooting, everyone else with a gun is going to think you're the shooter and shoot you.  So, you better be a good shot to take him/her out quick.

Like the guy at the Gabby Giffords shooting that had a gun but said he didn't pull it cuz he didn't want the cops or some other good guy with a gun to shoot him.

Every time I see these arguments the first thing I think about is the practical application I mean yes you have a practical application to be able to defend your home and frankly that’s lawful in America

But when you’re out on the street, just think about all the time is that you’re not actually with your weapon but it doesn’t make sense unless you have a specific purpose that day

What we need is to be looking at people with mental instability and their access to firearms and that includes ex military as well and I will go to the fire with a Fellow veteran. If you’re having mental instability you should not be having a weapon.

There are two distinct questions I have: if the guy was institutionalized how was he allowed back near guns? The military used to get rid of guys like this but not anymore?

Why is a person who has threatened to shoot a place up not arrested quickly? You don't have a right to do that so why was he not dealt with?

So he's crazy and is allowed to have a gun. Good job NRA

Maine has laws that prohibit mentally ill people from having guns. Someone did not follow the law it seems

I take it you’re one of the people who likes to wear a cowboy hat and pretend they’re gonna fight the war of independence?

RIP and condolences.

See the usual gun grabbers are outraged and focused on an outlier while they ignore the weekly mass shootings in the cities.

Another huge FBI/LEO failure.

How many warnings do you need?

would love to hear details from the anti-second folks on how this would be stopped?

Instantly deflect to something else. That’s what you guys are programmed to do. Wouldn’t expect anything else.

It would have been stopped if that particular make and model of gun was not available for purchase to civilians, if there was a national gun registry where it could have been taken from him once he was committed, and if he was unable to own it in the first place because of his domestic violence record. Right wingers hate the last one especially because I’d reckon 90% of them have some kind of DV charge.

Projecting your bigotry, again big guy.

and are hyper focused on the outlier.  Why. race?

And then?  the 10-20 million in people's hands.

including the gangs that ravage the gun free zones created by DEM policies.

https://wblk.com/buffalo-ny-gangs/

But keep talking.  See sane people read about psycos with violence and the gun shops have longer lines.  but people like you hop online and tell people to be better victims.
