They already have a 2027 hit of 27M for him to not play there. https://overthecap.com/player/deshaun-watson/5596 Cooper, Wills and Chubb are free agents. Coopers void cap number is 22.5M for 2024, only way to manage it is to give him a contract but he has no benefit in signing it. You can tag chubb as RBs are usually affordable, but he probably won't play after missing time already, and you have no cap space so signing players will be a problem if you do that. Wills they picked up his 5th year option and restructured it for space, so they also need to extend him if they want to lessen the restructure cap burden. It's a mess over there. Oh and they extended the GM and HC so... heads probably don't even roll over there. That IS funny, but I'm not sure it's funnier than the prospect of cutting the starting QB only to learn that you can't field a team of 53 players on minimum-salary contracts! I am of the opinion that not every player who is in their twenties and riding around in a Porsche with a million cash in his pocket will be hungry enough to play professional football. Watson was great at Clemson. Dabo still talks about him. Some players that have this much money seem to lose their motivation. I'm not judging them either. Put me in that position at that age and I would rather not be sacked by Von Miller or some human missle safety on a blitz. I also would not want to take a punch from Mike Tyson. Nope, I'm sure that in my twenties I would rather hang out til all hours, party with the hottest women on the planet, and wake up when I feel like it. My guess is that plenty of teams are going to eat tons of cap space in the future after getting stuck with players who are rich and no longer care, especially given the size of these QB contracts. Dak Prescott might make more money per year than some owners. The whole scandal may have broken him mentally. I read his Twitter burner account and it reads like somebody who cannot handle anymore criticism and is overcorrecting in terms of believing in his own abilities. He seems to be mentally stuck in 2019/2020 in order to psychologically deal with what he's gone through. Money is great, but the wealthy have mental issues of their own. It's not easy when you go from being most loved to most hated. Some can push through, most can't.

I am guessing they would take away team, get a new buyer who would be required to stay in Cleveland, veteran players would be released, Browns would get extra picks in draft and expansion draft as well with teams being able to protect players as they did when Carolina came into league. Now, college players are driving around in Porsches. Many players will not let it affect them but I think that an increasing number of them will go wild with all of that money. Some of these kids will make more in college than I made in my entire life, and I'm not starving. But ya know, good for them. Many of them will spend the rest of their lives in pain, and they are super talented people. I tend to forsee many more problems like Dashaun down the road, but this could also be me being pessimistic. I dont watch college ball, but I heard on the radio that some college QB is getting like 8mil. Thats more than like Purdy makes. I mean good for them getting money. I always thought they should be able to get something. They need to cap that stuff though. Now its gonna be all about what college can pay you and it'll probably screw up the competitiveness. I guess to an extent that was already true. Just not with this kind of money.

I thought college athletes should be paid, but I don’t believe they should get the absurd money they are receiving now. Outside sponsorships can wait until after your college career. I believe the college themselves should have a flat rate salary for their athletes, something around 60-100k per year. Enough to live comfortably and be compensated for your hours of practice and training.

For them to maximize what might be their entire possible earnings shouldn't be hindered, especially when the NCAA has made billions of $$$ off of it's players. Let them get every cent they can.
