Roger has done nothing for the fans and everything for the owners

This is how he keeps his job

Football is now on 4 days a week, coverage 24/7, and accessible almost anywhere. The game is safer a little bit more every year and players are playing longer and longer. 15 years ago Josh Allen would have maybe 2-3 more seasons left.

Jerseys and tickets are expensive, but watching from your couch is cheap.

I question whether that is Roger himself but rather the owners and NFL committee who have moved the league and it’s coverage in that direction.

That was Bert Bell.

Rozelle expanded the league.

Bell had a deal with a now defunct TV network to share revenue among owners from 1 game a week.  Not a big challenge because the game in the 50s was largely driven by stadium attendance.  Teams also negotiated their own TV deals locally which wasn't shared.  Rozelle came in and not only expanded the league, he took the increased revenues from gate and television deals and shared that among the NFL owners. And much of that required getting more games on television across multiple networks.

which efforts?

Not saying he has made any efforts not to see it succeed, just saying this country is so football crazy he could and it would make little difference, people would still watch it.

My point was the the concept of sharing revenue already existed and to some degree had been agreed to before Rozelle.

This country used to be baseball crazy.  A succession of Commissioners have watched it become almost irrelevant as the NHL.  Why is that?
