The Tennessee Titans informed Derrick Henry this week that they don't plan to trade him despite receiving inquiries about the Pro Bowl running back, league sources told ESPN.

This doesn't mean he won't be traded by Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline -- the Titans simply told Henry they don't intend to move him.

League sources believe that as much as he has meant to the Titans, it would make sense for the organization to explore trade possibilities for Henry, who is on an expiring contract and will be a free agent after this season.

If Henry were to be traded, there would probably have to be an agreement in place by the end of day Monday because any acquiring team would likely have to modify his contract for salary cap savings. A restructured contract agreement would have to be in place by 4 p.m. ET on Monday, 24 hours ahead of the NFL's trade deadline.

So although the Titans told Henry they won't trade him, the key inflection point will come by 4 p.m. Monday. League sources still believe there is a chance Henry could be traded, though there is not as much interest in him across the NFL because of his age, production, expiring contract and cost for the rest of this season.

The Titans (2-4) are off to a bumpy start this season and will play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons with quarterbacks Will Levis and Malik Willis in place of injured starter Ryan Tannehill.

Weird report from Schefter. The Titans told Henry they don't "intend" to trade him, but he then implies that if they lose against the Falcons it is still possible he'll be traded.

I feel like when your team tells you that, that's probably when you think "Yeah, I might get traded."

I mean I get it. They still are technically in the hunt for that division and a playoff spot if the finish with a decent record in the #2 spot there. Trading Henry is a pretty much guarantee you’re mailing it in and want to see Spears get development for the next year as Derrick is still clearly your best player on that team.

Do they get to the Playoffs? Doubt it. So if they lose this Sunday against Atlanta they probably feel there isn’t much to obtain this year as Atlanta, theoretically, are on the same radar of talent as them. Also doubt they even trade him after losing but you never know…

He currently sits at 28th in the league in WR yardage and tied for 4th in the league in TD's by WR's. For a #2 in a league with 32 #1's, that's incredibly good statistics.

You don't judge a second receiving option who has a top 3 QB throwing him the ball by their bulk stats alone...........we've been thru this.........Davis also had 5 TD receptions and had 110 more receiving yards thru his first 8 games last season.

And fwiw........Gabe is 37th in WR receiving yardage per game right now.......not 28th.    You are aware that the Bills are the only team in the NFL who has played 8 games, right?   Most have only played 7 and a couple only 6.

You really don’t like Gabe… huh…

Because I noted that @BillsFanForever19 was mis-using bulk stats?

Gabe is an excellent scheme fit as a 3rd or 4th option with a QB like Josh Allen who can take advantage of the things he does well.   Which isn't a lot.

Tannehill is hurt and they’re starting Will Levis against a very good Atlanta defense. If they lose and the Jags beat the Steelers, they will fall to 2-5 and be four full games behind in the division. They’re not really in it at all.

I'm not opposed to adding Hopkins, especially at the cost of his remaining contract.

But this idea that Davis has big production games and then doesn't have big production games is not uncommon amongst #2 WR's. You make it sound as though unless he produces like he did last week every single week, he's a total failure as a #2 WR.

He currently sits at 28th in the league in WR yardage and tied for 4th in the league in TD's by WR's. For a #2 in a league with 32 #1's, that's incredibly good statistics.

Yeah...people seem to think teams with first round picks as #2's with star WRs like Miami and Philly are the norm.

They aren't.

I think they are gone after this year

Phillips for sure, Settle might be cheap depth to keep around as a 4th/5th DT. I could see drafting someone in Round 2 or 3 pending what happens with Daquan.

Actually, he's 28th amongst WR's in Receptions. He's 23rd in Yards amongst WR's (there are TE's and RB's in the lists):

Discounting the production as "bulk stats" is silly. Players are judged by production. And bulk stats or not, that's good production.

Exactly this. People around here want 2 #1 WR's. When the fact is statistically Gabe Davis measures VERY high for a #2.

Could there be a better option? Yes. We could be one of the rare teams in the league that have two guys who would be considered #1 options. But he's nowhere near as awful as some posters like to claim he is. Especially compared to most #2 WR's.

Rumors Tenn wants to see Levis/Willis with competent players to fully evaluate them to see if they need a QB in the Draft.  If they trade Henry and or Hopkins then they are at Carolina levels of supporting cast and really throwing Levis/Willis to the wolves behind a subpar line. Henry '& Hopkins at least will help keep the offense viable and threaten a defense. All that maybe to try to get a offer upped before Tuesday but I can understand why Tenn wouldn't trade Hopkins/Henry unless it is an overwhelming offer.

Nah man. I’ve seen a load since August where you have nothing good to say about him. Usually it’s shade thrown his way.

is he elite? No. Could he be better? Yes. But  he is a key receiver Allen trusts, has produced fairly well over the last few seasons and likely wont be here next year unless he takes a seriously team friendly contract. Should be thankful and send him some praise that someone other than Diggs has been showing up well the first 1/3 of the season.

Like @BillsFanForever19 said, Gabe measures highly for a #2 WR and is nowhere near as awful as made out to be.

Again, he isn’t elite; that I can agree on.

Could do way worse.

Settle and Phillips are NOT the long term answer. and maybe not even the short term :(

The Daquan Jones loss has shown that as soon as he was out of the lineup, there went our interior pressure

Would not be shocked to see a high pick on the defensive tackle in next year‘s draft and we should get DaQuan Jones on an extension immediately

We aren't aspiring for the norm. We're trying to be a Super Bowl contender. Teams like Miami and Philly are our competition for that goal... So when you use those teams as examples, you're proving the point. We have to beat those teams to achieve our final goal. Hard to do that when they're starting off with such a huge advantage over us in that one key area.

And you have an incredibly short fuse. Consistently condescending or downright insulting people with almost all of your posts.

You claim to not have an agenda against Davis but any time anyone points out anything positive, you go off.

Yes, we are one of two teams who have played 8 games. I am aware. But the statistics have been consistently been extremely high for #2 WR metrics all season.

After this week is finished, he'll drop some. But he's still going to be ranked very highly for a #2 WR.
