Are you really saying Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau and AJ Epenesa are ineffective pass rushers?

They weren't when Beane signed Von Miller.

That was the implication.

Is Von the new red headed stepchild ? Fine… f**k that guy !!

Somebody has to fill the void left by Edmunds.  That being said, I watched the hi-lights.  He seemed to get off the ball quickly, get by his man, then kind of give up and jog once Taylor moved up in the pocket.  It was odd to see him just quit like that.  That's not the kind of player he is.  Something is definitely wrong.

On the other hand, Epenesa was everywhere second game in a row.  Something has changed with him.  He's an animal now.

Epenesa, Rousseau, and Oliver arent making impacts on the DL?

Seems more like the problem all along was the DC.

How were they and the others we had doing at the time that Beane signed Miller?

Seriously, you didn't get the context?

If you can an elite pass rusher, regardless of what you have, you get him.

The Eagles had the 3rd most sacks in NFL history last year.  Who did they draft in the first round this year?  Another pass rusher.  Was that an implication that they had ineffective pass rushers?

This is his Epenesa's payday year. Pass rushers who produce get paid, and if he keeps this up, he's going to be able to set himself up for life next spring. He won't be on the Bills, though.

I don't mind discussing in the original context, but this is an enormous tangent.

Not really up on the cap consequences of Von’s contract.  I’m afraid we have an aging commodity that’s quickly nearing the max age for a DL in this league.  He’s looking close to pedestrian if not washed as a difference maker.

Can someone please fill me in on the details.

Considering our DL’s success without him I’d love to have the $ to allocate elsewhere.

Drafting a pass rusher and signing one for $120M are two different worlds.

No its not lol.

Both teams were in position to take a pass rusher as a high investment and both took it.

Yes, again, way out of context with the original point to which I made the statement.

I know what I commented on, thank you.

Carter is a top 10 pick.  You’re committed to him for the next 5 years.  The Eagles had other areas they could have used a top 10 pick but they chose a pass rusher.

Let's give Von more than a handful of snaps over two games coming off an ACL, before we give up on him and declare him "washed."  He was invisible against the Jags, but showed some improvement last night, imo.  He's coming off injury and a lot of time off.  He's going to take a few more weeks to get back up to speed, and he's going to need to play some snaps, even if they are less effective than what AJ or Johnathan are currently giving us, to get there.  If he's still invisible in December, then hit the panic button and begin to think of ways out of his contract.

at some point, von will be back to elite.

but he ain't there yet......looks several weeks away ...minimum

mostly used on 3rd downs....he's not bending/driving thru his man towards qb......he's not chasing......at this point, anyone else on the roster is better

Likely because signing premium position players to cost-effective rookie contracts is highly preferable to spending 5 times as much on the FA market. Also if you aren't shopping for a QB, many GMs go BPA. Carter isn't even making half of Miller's GTD money. Different worlds.

He better be. We can and should be moving on from contracts like Poyer, Hyde, Morse, etc. Shift some of that money to Epenesa.

If we let him walk it's a FO fail.

I was looking for him and he looked OK, but lacking explosiveness. He beat his guy on one play and Tyrod drifted away from him before making a throw (can't remember if it was complete or not).

It's going to take a couple of weeks for him to get ramped up.

I thought he looked to have a good bit of his explosion off the snap back.  He had a couple plays where he was close to getting to Taylor

Truth:  AJE > Von Miller

Maybe it wont be by playoff time, but AJE needs to keep being a big part of the rotation, I really hope he doesn't lose a lot of snaps to Von who takes like a 30 yard path to the QB it feels like at times.  Love Von, but he ain't that guy right now but AJE has been.

The way AJE is playing you gotta keep giving him the reps he is earning and not just take him out for the preseason presumed starter Von, at least until Von shows he can be as good or better than AJE out there.
