This sucks. If I remember this is his 3rd foot injury. Hopefully this is not a chronic issue. He was not the same player when he came back from injury last year. Someone posted a pic showing Oliver falling on the ankle.

This is really unfortunate.  Groot's been a beast.  We didn't need this kind of setback, but I guess that's the nature of football.

Shoulda kept Boogie, kidding. Yes, it hurts to not have him but it's still early in the season and better to lose now than later IMO.

With the stretch of games we have coming up, and with von back, there is zero reason to rush him back. Keep him out until he is 100%. We need him for late season and the playoffs.

The beauty of having a deep DL is for situations like this. 
 

Epenesa has looked good out there, and as long as we have Jones/Oliver wrecking interior OL’s with Floyd on the other side, I still feel good about this group.  
 

Hopefully Von is able to be given the green light to rotate in on passing downs, and then we can probably let Rousseau rest for as long as needed to get back to full strength.

Last year was a high ankle sprain.  What other injury has he had?

Bummer.  Jax is going to want to slow this game down and dirty it up in the running game I imagine so losing a guy on that rotation on the d line stinks.

 

Hopefully the offense will put on a show this week again  and get them a big lead minimizing some of these injuries.

The down side, Groot is absolutely elite at run defense, AJE is borderline awful.  I’d expect Lawson to get some major reps this week as Etienne is a guy that can take it to the house the minute he breaks contain.   Good news, the line has depth, there’s definitely a fall off, but you are handing off responsibility to another 1st round pick, so it’s not like it’s massive gap.
