WotAGuy Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 It’s better that Diggs is standing still on running plays than Cody Ford standing still on every play. 2 8 Quote

Bleeding Bills Blue Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 If he's split out wide and the action is in the middle, there really isn't much for him to do. The DB in coverage isn't going to be able to make much of a play on it, and theres 10 other defenders nearer the ball so he probably would rather save his juice for covering diggs. If the run action is outside, then obviously get up field and throw a block. I suppose he could run a "route" but wouldn't you rather him save that kind of thing for when we are calling pass plays? Charles Romes Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 I put this in the category of Bruce Smith’s practice schedule 1985-1999. He’s earned the right to do whatever he wants. Quote

For all I know it's like the guys above said Maybe they are setting up the Jags for a big play this weekend by showing a "fake" tendency. Are you under the impression that the D front is looking at Diggs when the ball is snapped? Quote

Xwnyer Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 And if Davis goes in motion and stops near the tackle it’s a run as well. We telegraph plays way to much 1 2 Quote
MPL Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 I mean, it's not like dlineman and LBs (to some extent) can just watch Diggs when the ball is snapped. They have to be looking in the backfield and at what the oline is doing. Quote
jkeerie Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Diggs also stands still on passing plays. I'm rewatching the Miami game now. Quote

Yantha Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 If the running play is away from him, I have no issue with him getting some wind and burning his route on the next play. Quote

This play has been in the playbook since Allen’s rookie season. He threw a TD to an obscure TE off this same design when we beat Minnesota in the ‘Barr Leap’ game. Quote

He gets pushed by the DB when he was walking and not paying attention. Whoa. See also, btw, on GD touchdown: Kinkaid accidentally dumps Murray, ass-over-teakettle, as they cross routes. Gotta clean that up boys. Edited October 4, 2023 by Dukestreetking Not Cook 1 1 Quote
BearNorth Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Diggs actually has a higher run block grade than Gabe Davis. Davis is grading out as the worst run blocker of the regulars. 1 2 Quote
vincec Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 (edited) It’s not the end of the world, but ideally he’d be blocking on running plays. Obviously if the play is wide to his side, but also for plays to the middle or even the other side of the field. He should be looking for a deep safety or other downfield player in case the run breaks. WRs blocking downfield are often the difference between a long run and a long TD. WhoTom Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Diggs doesn't use his mouthguard - every play, it's dangling from his facemask. I think he's trying to hypnotize the DBs with it. 1 1 Quote
