chongli Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 (edited) I was shocked when I read this today. He was a former Pro Bowl tight end for the Patriots and 49ers. He won a SB with San Franciso in 1984. I remember watching him as a child in the 80's. He died in a plane crash in Lake Placid. He was an avid aviator. Boston is getting hit hard in the past few days (this and Tim Wakefield). WTF? Edited October 4, 2023 by chongli 2 5 Quote

Let's Go Buffalo Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 I was reading this news a little bit ago. Some more sad news for sure. Thoughts and Prayers! R.I.P. Mr. Francis 1 Quote
Steve O Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Before Gronk and Kelce there was Francis, whom Howard Cosell would always call all-world. Was Daryl Stingley's roommate with the Patriots. Retired in 1980 but Bill Walsh talked him in to coming back and he won a Super Bowl with the San Fran. RIP, like chongli said, tough week for Boston fans. RIP. 1 Quote
Mr. WEO Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 In the right seat was Richard McSpadden, a VP of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association's Safety Institute. Guy was a Commander in the AF Thunderbirds. A well known GA accident analyst. Sad. Sounds like they had trouble on takeoff and attempted "the impossible turn" back to the runway. 1 Quote
Chandler#81 Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 He scared the hell outta me every time we played NE! R.I.P. 1 Quote
BigPappaPump Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Francis & Kellen Winslow were two of the greatest reasons I played TE. Great player & great man. RIP 1 Quote
