RIP David McCallum - Illya Kuryakin and "Ducky" Mallard

Great actor David McCallum  died today of natural causes at age 90.

Best known for three roles."Dispersal" in  the Great Escape (1963), Illya Kuryakin in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (1964-1968) snd Donald "Ducky" Mallard on NCIS (2003-2023).

 

On NCIS when Gibbs was asked what Ducky looked like when he was younger, he replied " Illya Kuryakin".

The Great Escape is one of my favorite movies.  He had a smaller part in the film, but was good.  I was thinking a while back he was maybe the only surviving big name actor of the film.

David McCallum wrote a piece of music entitled "The Edge". You may recognise it as it was sampled by Dr Dre in his hit single "The Next Episode".
