ChiGoose Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, wife charged with bribery "U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey and his wife Nadine have been indicted in New York on federal bribery charges related to an allegedly corrupt relationship they had with three businessmen from their home state. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan has scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. ET Friday to discuss the indictment. Sen. Menendez, a Democrat, is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee." *** This guy has been dirty for a long time. Would be nice if they finally get him Unfortunately, bribery convictions are much harder to get thanks to McDonnell v. United States 1

Tommy Callahan Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Quote https://www.politico.com/news/2023/09/22/authorities-to-charge-u-s-sen-bob-menendez-and-wife-today-00117590 The latest indictment of the prominent Democrat gives DOJ a chance to appear politically evenhanded as it faces withering criticism from former President Donald Trump and his allies over the two federal criminal indictments he is under. The Friday indictment alleges explosive conduct by Menendez. According to prosecutors, he “provided sensitive U.S. Government information and took other steps that secretly aided the Government of Egypt,” as well as pressured an official at the U.S. Department of Agriculture to benefit the business of one of the defendants. Thats treasonous 1 1

ChiGoose Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 Menendez Accused of Brazen Bribery Plot, Taking Cash and Gold Additional details: "The three-count indictment, which also charges the senator’s wife and three New Jersey businessmen, accuses him of using his official position in a wide range of corrupt schemes at home and abroad. In one, he sought to benefit the government of Egypt, including secretly providing it with sensitive U.S. government information, while in two others, he aimed to influence criminal investigations of two New Jersey businessmen, one of whom was a longtime fund-raiser for Mr. Menendez. Toward that end, the senator, a Democrat, recommended that President Biden nominate a lawyer, Philip R. Sellinger, for the post of U.S. attorney for New Jersey because Mr. Menendez believed he could influence Mr. Sellinger’s prosecution of the fund-raiser. Mr. Sellinger, who was ultimately confirmed for the post, was not accused of any wrongdoing. In another scheme, Mr. Menendez used his position to try to disrupt the investigation and prosecution of a businessman by the New Jersey State attorney general’s office, according to the indictment. In exchange for all those actions, the indictment said, the senator and his wife, Nadine Menendez, accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bribes, including cash, gold bars, payments toward a home mortgage, a luxury vehicle and other valuable things." So there's really no reason he shouldn't step down. But given who he is, I would be surprised if he did.

BillsFanNC Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 When a government institution has gone over the top to the nth degree in order to erode all public trust and faith in it, then not putting any faith or trust in what they're telling us isn't a CoNsPirAcY tHeOrY. It's called NOT being a useful idiot. The only thing that's absolutely certain is that what the DOJ is telling us through their media partners is NOT the truth. The bed your masters made. Keep shi. tting it before lying in it. 2
ChiGoose Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 Either: A. The guy with a long history of corruption, including having barely escaped a conviction for a previous corruption charge is, as it turns out, actually corrupt; or B. The guy with a long history of corruption, including having barely escaped a conviction for a previous corruption charge is actually not corrupt but is being sent up as a patsy by a shadowy deep state cabal in order to make it look like they are impartial in charging Donald Trump even though multiple different jurisdictions charged Trump with crimes, the first charges came out months ago, and the type of people they would be doing this to convince of their impartiality would never believe it anyway. Yeah... I'm gonna go with option "A"... 1 1 1
Irv Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Smoke and mirrors to make it look like they are impartial on the heels of no indictments in Biden's totally obvious corruption and multiple indictments of Trump who is, by the way, Biden's chief political rival. You can't make this stuff up. What a mess.
Kemp Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Menendez accused of doing Clarence Thomas things. They should both be tossed. Have a feeling Trump supporters won't agree. 1
