Pretty accurate tbh.

Gave up my seasons a couple years ago for this reason. I get it. It's a reason to cut loose, have fun and such. Back when I was younger it seemed there were more people that would get drunker later on in the game. But first 3 quarters were fairly tame. Almost every game I went to the last few years I have seen people stagger in through the gate. My bet is the more the tailgating experience has grown combined with the absolutely ridiculous beer prices in the stadium more people focus on imbibing before the game.

Of course after kickoff no one settles in and watches the game anymore either.half the game is spent with people walking back and forth up and down the aisle to go on beer runs, bathroom breaks and such. The in person experience has moved for watching a football game to a party with a game in the background. Make sure to take those selfies too, gotta get the perfect shot for your Facebook.

I usually drive so i tend to not get hammered, but i'll have a few pops before i go in.  Stop drinking at noon, order a chicken finger bucket, a water, and a cup of coffee.

I will say i have had some rough experiences in the 300s, so i've been spending a bit more to sit a little closer.  My wife (a pats fan) and her two sisters had beer dumped on their heads by the girl in the row behind them.  I texted the hotline and they tossed the girl and she was NOT happy - but cmon now, be better.  The young 20 somethings are the ones causing a lot of the ruckus i feel.

Went to my first away game at arrowhead a year ago - nobody gave me a lick of trouble.  They'd all joke that we were gonna get thrashed and embarrassed, but after that TJ pick they all sort of just shook my hand and left me alone.

Police are investigating what happened. This is something no one should ever have to witness during what should be a good time. Very disturbing, no matter what triggered it.

It's why no matter what happens out in public unless my life is in danger, I walk away.  Not worth dying over, being shot over, severely beaten, etc...

People are psychotic these days and have no respect for human life.  Also with everything that has gone on the past 3-4 years you have no idea what a person's mental state is and if you will be the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of pushing them over the line where they snap and just can't take it anymore.

and the pot..  it’s over the top. Took the kids to Bills Ravens last year and it smelled like a phish concert.

If more people did that, there would be fewer fights.

Fun banter back and forth is part of the experience.. I have a Canadiens fan that I did that with for years when I had Bruins season tickets at my disposal. We joke around about how crappy the others team was then always end up saying “ the loser buys dinner tonight!”  As you can see we ended up as friends. Lol

I never will understand getting so angry at something that’s suppose to entertain you and help you forget your own issues for awhile.

something similar happened around here years ago.  it was after a men's league softball game.  the two sides were shaking hands, and one guy punched an opposing player in the side of the head and killed him.  it went from a softball game to manslaughter.

pure stuipidty.

At least the pot smokers don't get violent. Four drunks will start a fight; four stoners will start a band.

Dale Mooney is the guy that died and he was a NE season ticket holder.

I don’t want to argue about this, but the article posted above said this

Quote

By the fourth quarter it had just kind of come to blows,” said Joe Kilmartin, who recorded part of the confrontation. “Then you saw a fan deliver two punches to the victim, a Dolphins fan, he was wearing a Dolphins jersey, and the victim just kind of slumped over at that point in his seat.”

Everything I've seen has said it was a 53 year old Patriots season ticket holder and he was wearing a Patriots' jersey.

Read the Pats Pulpit article in Gary Marangi's post above...of course, it could be wrong...

It all bad.. also a myth. I’ve seen plenty of drunk and stoned people get in fights.

Unfortunately true.

Having grown up with the idea that stoners don't get violent, it was kind of a shock to me in my work to see how often people involved in violent crime were chronic weed users. Often with alcohol, but still.

That whole pothead kumbaya thing was either a myth to begin with or has sadly been superseded by a new type of user.

I noticed that too, but I took the “a Dolphins fan, he was wearing a Dolphins jersey” to mean that the witness was giving more context to who he meant by “a fan” earlier on in that sentence.

That may be right, but come on ... I don't think I've ever known a recreational weed user who isn't also a drinker. My impression today is that any heavy user of intoxicants, separately or in combination, is more prone to doing stupid and dangerous things.

The headline on this thread is incorrect. It’s the Fins fan that died from a punch from a Pats 30-year STH.

I have read it was a dolphins fan and also read it was a Pays fan. So I am not sure which it is, mind you Pats fan, dolphins fan… a fan of U2 it doesn’t matter. There was zero need for what happened.

I think weed is miscategorized for whatever reason.  I've never been a kumbaya guy when I smoke and almost everyone I know isn't either.

The only time I will get the giggles is when I drink.

Weed will chill you but you are still fully cognizant.  Most Jiu Jitsu/grapplers guys I know smoke and many smoke before training.

Many NFL players get ripped before games....they aren't kumbaya on the field LOL.

I agree but if just pot, the chance of violence is near zero...add in others and of course the chance increases
