Quote

The Seahawks signed 41-year-old left tackle Jason Peters to their practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.

The addition of Peters comes amid uncertainty about the severity of the injuries that knocked both of Seattle's starting tackles out of the team's season-opening loss. Right tackle Abraham Lucas missed the second half with a sore patella, which also bothered him during training camp. Left tackle Charles Cross left in the third quarter with a sprained big toe.

Why isn’t he our starting RT right now

Because he's 41 years old.  Same reason he's not anyone else's.

Either a.) He didn't want to come back to Buffalo or b.) Kromer, Beane, and/or McDermott weren't interested in a 41 year old player.

He was available and we chose to sign Germain Ifedi instead. If he signed to a Practice Squad deal, it obviously wasn't a money issue.

when we could have signed him he was only intending to sign with a team pre-week 1 if he was going to start or be on the active 53 to enjoy a full year of pay and benefits.

but he should have been signed

My head hurts that Bills UFA Jason Peters is getting an NFL check still. Wowza. Have to give that man credit. iPhone had not yet even launched.

Sure, Josh blows a game so we should bring in a washed up Tackle. That’s really going to help Josh.

Just because QB was the biggest problem on the field Monday night doesn’t mean that RT wasn’t also a problem. Or that RT hasn’t been a problem for quite some time.

He has not played RT with any regularity since he played for Buffalo.  He was inserted into game for Dallass when starting RT was injured and then backup Josh Ball was ineffective.  Josh Ball (sounds like our offense) however has been kept and Jason Peters went on to Free Agency.   As a starting RT?  Not a good idea.  Backup LT on PS able to elevated?  Maybe.  He will need time however to get into game shape since he skipped OTAs, training camp and preseason.

Seattle signed him to start. He is simply starting on the PS so they don’t have to release a player. He will elevated to the 53.

Leaving Spencer in there isn't going to help either.

Neither would Jason Peters. JMO.

And brining in a washed-up T is going to be the answer?

He wasn’t the only option for addressing competition at RT.

I never said he was my preferred option. He’s just the kind of option left now.

Good for him that he can still get paid.  But if you've watched him over the past 3-4 years, he doesn't stay in games.  He's shuffling in and out constantly with minor nagging injuries.  He's not a real option that can be counted on to contribute.
