Cam Newton Started To Regress in Year 6

The quarterback who appears to be most comparable to Josh is early Cam Newton. Cam's performance began to decline in his sixth year, and now we find ourselves in a similar situation with Josh. As he enters his sixth year, it appears that his performance has deteriorated in every game since the Green Bay game last year. Will Allen be able to revive his career, or will he continue to experience a decline? This is a critical question that needs to be addressed.

Cam started to break down physically, Allen is having some mental regression which should be fixable.

There has been no regression whatsoever in physical talent. If he truly regresses, it will be because of the mental/emotional side of the game.

 

He probably wanted to impress his new girlfriend last night.

Cam unfortunately played in the last era you could hit QBs.

 

Josh has no comp - he will be the comp for this next generation of QBs.  
 

 

 

Also, he tore his UCL. 

 

I’m far more concerned with a potential mental impact that’s had on him or if anything is lingering.

It would be a shame to not have Josh play at a high level for at least 12 years. There are many factors contributing to this recent decline including coaching,  OL and Josh's own stubbornness.  Comparing him to Cam athletically is very accurate. This season will be critical to his future & longevity. But he must cooperate.

I cringed at two hits Josh took last night, but those hits were swats with a pillow compared to what Cam regularly went through.

The Cam Newton comparison is for opposing fans who want Allen to have a short career.

 

It's simply not a good comparison.
