Everyone knows how valuable they are and why give that up for later round picks? I think the success rate for pass stud rushers outside of the top 12 is very low. 1 Quote

Trey Hendrickson, who is leading the NFL in sacks was drafted 103rd overall in the 3rd round. Danielle Hunter who is second in the NFL in sacks was the 88th pick in the 3rd round. TJ Watt who is tied for 4th in sacks and has been defensive player of the year(multiple times?) was drafted 30th in the 1st round. Nick Bonnito who is tied for 4th in the NFL in sacks was drafted 64th overall in the 2nd round. So essentially out of the top 5 sack leaders this year, the only one who follows your script is Myles Garrett who is 3rd and was drafted 1st overall. This is simply not true. But in all the drafts, all the money on FA'S I feel I can say, beane and company can not scout DL. The years of evidence is there. So finding a Trey Hendrickson by this staff isn't happening 1 Quote

BigDingus Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 So I was watching Colin's week 17 reaction video (Bills segment at 38:25) & he immediately goes into talking about McDermott. "I think these are the Sean McDermott playoffs.... "If they get bounced early in the playoffs... if Cincinnati got in & played Buffalo in the 1st round, and Cincinnati won, I'm telling you, I think McDermott's in trouble." "When I watch this team - I don't want to hear about Josh Allen. This is not a Josh Allen referendum. He lost a game cuz he scored a TD with 13 seconds left to Mahomes." "This team, this coaching staff, has REAL pressure on them." We were really down on McDermott last year, and there's been a decent amount of discussion about McDermott this year (especially after the Rams game), but I've heard many others throwing his name out for Coach of the Year. It sounds odd that someone who some consider COTY material would also be someone who could get fired after this postseason, regardless of outcome. If the scenario that Colin suggested played out & we lost to the Bengals in the WC round, then yeah, I don't see how you can keep him. But what about the divisional round? Nobody would be happy with another 2nd round exit, but would this start to feel like a Marvin Lewis situation (only the 2nd round instead of the 1st)? I'm not preemptively planning for defeat, but I also haven't really considered what this team would look like without McDermott. Him & Beane are so close, it's hard to imagine a true coaching staff reboot. What do you all think? Is this postseason a "Sean McDermott" playoffs? 2 1 Quote
Drew21PA Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Not really hard to believe you have an all world talent in Josh Allen - it’s inevitable that if your team goes unprepared and doesn’t win when your qb - time and time again 13 seconds, last year at home with 1 minute to go - not prepared against cinci at home doesn’t get it done - I think you get bounced like Colin suggests you may think “Sean can’t do it” 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 If we lose first round, I think McD absolutely should be and will be in the hot seat. That being said, I don't know if that would lead to him getting fired or not this year as being in the hotseat doesn't always equate to getting fired either. 2 1 6 Quote
y2zipper Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 The Bills should let him go if he doesn't make a conference title game. I said this at the beginning of the year: McDermott isn't a regular season conversation. We know the culture is good. We know he can manage a locker room, but he doesn't get points for that anymore. Josh Allen is excellent now, and the goal is to win a trophy. Frankly, I would rather see him win so he can just stay forever because he seems to have gotten his offensive coaching right again, but he's the longest tenured coach in the league without a super bowl and in the postseason, he's shown to be a defensive specialist that can't stop anybody. 2 1 2 4 Quote

Big Blitz Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I’m sorry but there is way more pressure on John Harbaugh than what were the low expectations of McD, this team, and its remade defense minus Milano coming in. 1 Quote
