The memes about toney are pretty brutal already this morning about how bad he was. I could only imagine if Davis has a game that bad. 1 catch for 1 yard. Quote
Bill from NYC Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) The Lions got a steal in Brian Branch with the 14th pick in round 2. Many (including our own @GunnerBill iirc) had him going in round 1. The thing about Branch is that he kept working very hard in college and one could clearly see steady, even game to game improvement. He would have fit well on the Bills but we had/have too many offensive needs to draft him. This post is NOT a complaint. Yeah, I am delighted to find out about his pick 6 against the Chiefs! Is Toney your brother from another mother? If Toney had hands like Kincaid, he wouldn't have been playing last night because he'd have still been a member of the Giants. Teams don't trade away a first round pick early in his sophomore season unless they're cutting their losses on a player they believe is a bust. 1 Quote
Lost Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Wonder if the Chiefs loss will give the Bills a little extra juice on Monday knowing they could potentially come out of the gates with a 1 game lead on their conference rival. 1 Quote

It doesn’t happen much in football for a non-QB but last night Toney flat out cost the Chiefs a win. Quote

But, they know that even if the hit is 100% legal, the refs would call them, so I guess they probably did what they thought they should have to do. Safeties and defensive backs are now doing the same thing….vs ALL receivers. Seems like they’re afraid to hit a receiver at all in the middle of the field. The game sure ain’t what it used to be, all for “player safety”, I guess. 🙄 Quote

Even if Detroit scores a TD and extra point, it is still a one-score game. And if they punted, KC may never have gotten the ball back. Wrong analysis. If up one and you score a TD in the 4th quarter you absolutely go for two, because the TD itself puts you up 7 and no team coming back is going to go for two instead of kicking the PAT to tie. If you get the 2-pointer you’ve sealed the game by going up 9. There were two really bad 4th down decisions in that game. The first was Campbell punting from the Chiefs’ 40 on 4th and 3, and the second was Reid going for 4th and 25. 1 2 1 Quote

And you could see when he ran the wrong route on that one second half Mahomes was pissed with him. How long Pat can stay patient is going to be interesting. And if he builds some trust in Rashee Rice early you can see him leapfrogging Moore and Toney very quickly. I just woke up after only watching the first half. I watched the second half highlights, and it appears that Toney basically cost them the game — with his two drops of good passes costing them 10 points. Is that right? Both looked like egregious drops to me. 1 Quote
Italian Bills Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 So… maybe, right now, everybody can see the unique and essential role that TK has to the Chiefs and Mahomes. I’m not saying Mahomes isn’t a great and gifted QB, of course he is, generational talent, so like Josh is but there is a X factor that made, till now, a “little” (sarcastic) difference between the two when we talk about goal achievement and I’m referring at SB and MVP. Put TK in Bills uniform the last three years and see how things could have ended. 1 1 Quote

He had over 800 yards and 7 touchdowns. That isn't a bad season for a #2 receiver at all. Yes, he dropped some balls, yes, he didn't show a diversification of his route running but I think expecting that he wouldn't be the same guy he has been was the mistake. This time last year I was getting "why do you hate Gabe Davis?" questions directed my way. Now I'm getting "why can't you see his short comings?" type posts. I'm the one who hasn't changed my stance. It's the narrative around me on these boards that has been all over the shop. My expectations are firmly that Gabe will have 800-900 yards, a catch % of around 55%, and 5-7 touchdowns again in 2023. Because that is who he is. And then someone else will pay him next offseason, he'll get somewhere around $13-14m on the open market. And he'll be a #2 receiver there who puts up 650-900 yards a season depending on the team, the Quarterback and how much they pass. I guess the next logical question would be do you think the Bills will pay Davis that kind of money? Do you think the Bills need to upgrade the WR2 position? Assuming it's not Kincaid. Quote

Also people rag on Beane for Boogie Basham, but KC traded DOWN to take Skyy Moore instead of Pickens and yikes he’s awful. As I recall, there were several really good WRs on the board when they took Moore. We can be thankful that, outside of Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs WR drafting has been downright lousy. Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Crazy how little that guy is paid based on his value. He’s been paid $10-12m per year. If anyone should be holding out it’s him. 2 Quote

Do you think the Bills need to upgrade the WR2 position? Assuming it's not Kincaid. On the first question, no I don't. He'd need to have like a 1,200 yard 10 touchdown type year where he looked like a #1 receiver in waiting I think for the Bills to consider bringing him back at what he is likely to cost. Do they need to upgrade the #2 position? No they don't need to. I think they need to upgrade MLB. But could they stand to upgrade that position? Yes, and I've been in favour of them drafting a receiver early the last two years when they have failed to do so. Kincaid could well play into that calculation though. If he ends up close to being our 2nd most targeted player in the passing game this coming season and looks like he offers more upside than a Gabe Davis then I think you can move sideways in terms of what you look to bring in as WR2 for the short term.... because you have Diggs and Kincaid as your actual 1 and 2 in terms of targets. But long term you need someone who can be a WR1 beyond Diggs. And I still think the place you find that guy is in round 1 or 2 of the draft. 1 1 2 Quote

Also, Nick Bolton looks legit. They need Jones badly. The starting Chiefs front really never got a lot of pressure. It was more DBs blitzing. Correct me if I'm wrong.
