FilthyBeast Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Ugghhhhh who didn't see this coming? The truly great NFL GM's in this league know when to move on from aging veterans and it was a massive mistake bringing back all these guys, especially at their current contracts. This is why I predict that Rapp will supplant Hyde or Poyer as starter sooner than later so I guess give Beane credit for that contingency plan. 3 2 2 1 3 2 Quote

But doesn't mean he will for sure break down this year. I mean he could, every player is different, and some break down even younger. But this notion that because a player is 31 or 32 around here that they automatically can't stay healthy, play well, etc is so outdated. Its just not true anymore in the modern game. Lots of players are still playing at a high level at this age, its not some guaranteed automatic cliff it was 30 years ago. 2 Quote
Donuts and Doritos Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 My wife made me practice yard work with a back injury. McD is more understanding. 6 1 Quote

SCBills Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Gotta agree with some here on the age thing. I understand the temptation of wanting to run it back with Hyde & Poyer this year given the Edmunds departure, and hopefully they have one more top tier year left in them, but we can't be shocked if injuries are a thing again this year when we're so dependent on defense upon aging players/players coming back off injury. 1 Quote

Please provide some examples of your nonsense - are you referring to Howie Roseman who has multiple 30+ year olds on his team including 35 year old Brandon Graham that just resigned? Or perhaps Brett Veach whose top offensive skill player is a 33 year old veteran that just got hurt again? Every single team has old vets. You're clearly getting cocky but I think you should employ a less is more approach. Your desire to jump into every thread is greatly watering down your trolling. 3 1 3 1 Quote

Hyde essentially missed all of last season and is on the wrong side of 30. And now alas we are hearing about a back injury (which is obviously not a minor problem for anyone that has had back issues) If it was up to me I would have moved on. Also there's a reason his running mate didn't get much interest on the FA market either. 2 2 3 Quote

Hyde has been insanely durable throughout his career. Last year was literally the only instance where he’s missed time. Quote

Examples of hardcore fantastic GMs consistently cutting old productive vets, please. 2 Quote
schoolhouserock Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 The Bills are better with Hyde on the field. Hope this doesn’t cause him to miss Monday’s game. 3 Quote
C.Biscuit97 Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 I blame the people who were celebrating the Kelce injury in the other thread! really hope it’s nothing serious but this is going to be an issue with both safeties going forward. Getting old sucks. 1 Quote

Belichik and the Patriots didn't it for years and is one of the major reasons why they dominated the AFCE (and entire league) the greater part of 20 years. Remember our old friend Lawyer Milloy? I like Hyde and Poyer and they've been great players for this team. This is not up for debate. But I think all the warning signs are there if you trust the local media pundits in regards to both of them looking a step slower in camp/preseason. 2 1 1 Quote

Your example of "all of the truly great GMs" is a singular Bill Belicheat reference from years ago? Lame even for you. 1 Quote
