a vendetta? You don’t have to white knight for the guy. He’s acted like a jerk and some guys are calling out that he has acted like a jerk. You don’t get to simply not make the news for a very short stretch and have that reputation disappear. If he’s truly past it, he will eventually earn having his name associated with the new things he achieves. Unfortunately, world class entitlement is the extent of his resume so far.

It's a joke that some people think people can't change

Sure he has been an ass.. it doesn't mean he can't or hasn't turned a corner

Simple as that

I'm looking forward to the day that he's old enough that we no longer talk about him. He's currently 29. It'll be at least another 6-7 years.

That day will never come here...

The name alone means everything to too many here

He absolutely could've played in the NFL.  Dummy.  But good for him making the most of the CFL.

clearly, he could not.

He should change his name to Chad Namath so we wouldn't have to hear about him here anymore

I am too lazy to look it up.  If someone cares to respond, how serious were his crimes? Did he beat up women? Were there any sex crime allegations? Was he doing stickups? Did he cause serious injury to anybody?

Or, was he primarily just a drunken and/or drug using a-hole doing harm to mostly himself?

I’ll chalk it up as you will never have an opinion about behavior or outcomes because anyone could’ve drastically changed since their most recent of many mistakes… if the last name Kelly is involved.

obviously we all know people can change and evolve. Now ask yourself why you are so invested in everyone loudly agreeing with that point for Chad here?

At some point it will stop being we should sign him to the PS

and hopefully from there it’s just an occasional page and a half about whatever local charitable event he pops up at and not 10 pages for an embarrassing event.

For me it really has nothing to do with who he's related to, Not that I always succeed but I've been trying to get out of the business of judging others. Besides, what's the worst thing Chad Kelly's ever done?

On a related topic have you see the recent stories about Pacman Jones? Do his recent actions change the way you feel towards him?

Didn't he threaten to get a gun and shoot up a bar , while being arrested?  Not that stuff like that ever happens in real life.

I think it's funny that all these perfect people point fingers at somebody who they don't know, just too

Nobody here is perfect.. he could easily feel bad for how he has acted

Why is so everyone invested in bashing Chad Kelly I'm interested?

I think the responses you’ve received have something to do with you saying you are sure he’s been humbled, etc… as opposed to simply “hope he’s doing better these days.” And this being a board that for nearly a decade folks have lectured that the bills should give him a shot and his last time messing up was obviously isolated and his last time… for no apparent reason.

I wasn’t a douche when I was 18.

My friends weren’t douches at 18.

Yes … we all make mistakes as learn from them (far beyond our teenage years).

But there’s a difference between going through they typical ups and downs of a teenager and a painfully arrogant dipshit, spoiled rich kid living off of his uncle’s name doing insanely stupid stuff and not owning it.

He is a colossal douche. At 18 and beyond (he was in his 20s when he got into a fight at a f*cking high school football game.

Rich white trash.

His dad works/worked for Wegmans and his mom is/was a school teacher.  Seems middle class to me but rich is a relative term.  He was on the field because his brother was dogpiled in the other team's bench area.  Seemed he was willing to do more but never made it to the fight.  He could have been more calculating and thought "this is a bad look and could hurt my draft status" but it was "my brother was cheap shotted and is on the ground and outnumbered on their sideline and in a melee- I need to do something."  This is one incident involving him that was more of a mole hill than a mountain, imo.

Yeah, the vacuum cleaner ass whooping was nothing.

And justifying an adult getting into a fight?   Let alone a fight at a high school sporting even??  Come on.

He’s a bum.

you know what’s never crossed my mind?

I need to run on the field of a high school football game to fight someone

then again I’ve never threatened to go get my AK from the car to spray a bar cause they kicked me out.

He got kicked off his high school, college, and nfl teams. Considering how much coaches put up with talented players, that says a lot. He isn’t exactly a rocket scientist (I mean he had to settle for St. Joes). He threaten to shoot a bar up with an AK 47. He tried to fight high schoolers when he was in the pros. Almost everyone who has met him says he is a giant d bag.

that said, this might be the best thing for him. I don’t think he’s really that humbled (he was on a pod talking about how is better than a bunch of nfl starting qbs) but talent was never his problem. And he’s getting to play, which is something a guy like Tre Lance could use. I definitely would rather have him than our backups. Only problem is he would be a terrible influence on single Josh and probably would think he should be the starter. Swag Kelly!

That's like being the best looking guy in the ICU Burn Unit.

Bad post. I respect anyone for not giving up on their dreams. They are in the top 5% of their profession, one step away from being millionaires. How about you?

He punched a photographer at Von Miller's Halloween party and broke his jaw.  Imo, that  is the worst known offense.  The trespass/vacuum cleaner thing was not violent, just embarrassingly bizarre.  No forced entry and no aggression toward the residents.  Most all the others are out-of-control, adolescent-like tantrums.  I would suggest that he did not enter the field of school game and get in a fight, he entered a game that had transformed into a brawl (which was suspended and never resumed, btw) where his brother was in a bad spot.  Not smart but I don't know how dumb I might be for my brother.  He never was "in the fight" as some have posted.  He has an unmatched cycle of successes and emotional failures that some budding  mental health professional could write a thesis on.

Chase Daniel has made $41 M and Chad is way better than him.  Chad's flawed sense of ego/self control has likely cost him 8 figures in earnings.  I think he knows this all too well.  I hope he has gotten some counseling and suspect he might have when with the Colts.  He was never lazy about his craft but could never handle being told "no."  He fights authority and authority always wins.  I do agree with him that his combination of play making ability, mobility and arm talent is better than most QBs in the NFL.  C.Biscuit must be a Canisius man.

He reminds me of Vince Young - all the talent in the world but no self control or willing to listen to teams on changes he needs to make.  Maybe CFL helped him.

Teams certainly tried - he had plenty of opportunities..

When does the next Swag Kelly rap album drop? I wish my parents were rich and my uncle was famous so I could afford to be an idiot. If he was born into any other situation he'd be in jail or dead by now

Wording on one of those tacky Spencer Gifts signs that was left in my family's cottage when we took possession of it:

'Vee Get Olt Too Soon,

Und Schmardt Too Late.'

Let's see how young Mr. Kelly handles this latest brush with success and 75% fame (exchange rate of CFL to NFL).  It's been four years since Hoovergate.
