PepeSilvia Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 Boogie a 2nd round draft pick being traded for a late round draft pick is just another one of Beane’s whiffs. Josh Allen and Stefan Diggs cover up so much for this team and it’s going to be more and more apparent how much next year when Josh’s contract kicks in and you can’t pay free agents to make up for your draft whiffs 2022 (No. 25 overall): Kaiir Elam - can’t get on the field 2021 (No. 30 overall): Gregory Rousseau, still undecided on how good he is. Plays much better when Von Miller is on the field. Not sure he’s a #1 pass rusher a nice complimentary rusher 2020 (No. 54 overall): A.J. Epenesa, bust 2019 (No. 9 overall): Ed Oliver, not worth the contract he got nor how high he was drafted 2018 (No. 7 overall): Josh Allen, hit 2017 (No. 27 overall): Tre'Davious White, hit We all know about all of the 2nd round whiffs starting with Zay Jones im sure a 1st round pick last year and couple 2nd round picks from the last few years would look pretty good on the o-line or Lb’s right about now With that being said, we have a good team this year and this might be it for a few years before they can get some salary off the books and draft better which I don’t think a lot of us have faith that they can do 1 1 11 3 3 1 1 3 Quote

Mikey152 Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 Here's the thing...did you actually look at any of those drafts and who OTHER teams took? Sure, there are a few stars in there but man alive there are some terrible names. Like guys that have already been on multiple teams or out of the league bad. 2 Quote
JerseyBills Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 all teams wiff. KC included. I think our top 3 from this draft class will be big contributors for the future 2 Quote
Goin Breakdown Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 (edited) Every team has wiffs. Since 2017 buffalo has had some good success first round and later in the drafts. Sure second round is being talked about a lot now on the radio and has trickled in the group but every team has their bumps. We just see ours more clear than we see others. Week one is coming up. I just want to enjoy "Hope" right now. There's plenty of time for popping zits later on Edited August 30, 2023 by Goin Breakdown 1 Quote
PepeSilvia Posted August 30, 2023 Author Posted August 30, 2023 When Ed Oliver is your only contributing player from the 2019 draft that’s a problem. those should be your core guys who you build around and not bringing free agents or looking for replacements 4 going on 5 seasons later 3 Quote

Big Turk Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 (edited) AJE is not a bust...had 6.5 sacks last year. Not bad for a player that likely saw 35% of the snaps on defense. Once again, people acting like every other team drafts great when the reality is the Bills are near the top of the NFL since Beane has gotten here in comparison. it gets old listening to the same horsesh!t over and over. SCBills Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 (edited) We can probably get by with some of these misses in recent drafts due to the fact we’ve been able to cover them up with Free Agents. CIN & KC have crushed recent drafts and now they have the good problem of having to decide who to pay. The biggest issue moving forward is making sure we hit on some key guys along with maintaining strong depth via our drafts. Beane has been very good at the depth piece … not so much with the impact piece, which is why we’ve had to go out and pay for a Von Miller and Leonard Floyd this year. Which is why we’re desperately praying that Spencer Brown makes a jump this year. He’s invested heavy in the DL via the draft, without much to show for it, while at the detriment of the OL. Let’s hope he’s steadied the ship with these FA signings and let’s also hope that Rousseau, Cook, Kincaid, Torrence, along with at least one of Benford/Elam and Bernard/Williams all show themselves to be the pillars of the next few years as cheap contracts we can build our next window upon. No more mulligans on high impact picks. Beane won’t hit on them all, but he can’t miss on most of them either… Not when Josh Allen is making 40M+ against the cap. Who does KC have left from their 2019 class? Rashard Fenton and backup OG Nick Allegretti. What's their excuse for a worse draft class? 1 Quote
