richNjoisy Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 (edited) wow for a 4th? egad. 49ers traded a 1st in 2021, 2022, and 2023 along with another 3rd in 2022 to move up. All to Miami. Edited August 25, 2023 by richNjoisy 2 1 3 Quote
Wizard Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Lance needs a fresh start. I wish him well. Overdrafted, injuries, and on a team that needs a consistent QB. Too bad he landed with Cowboys, but maybe it gives him a chance to develop. 3 Quote
78thealltimegreat Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 I don’t think he can play from I’ve seen as his mechanics and pocket awareness are awful… but hey it’s a 4th rounder not a bad deal. Bills just didn’t have the cap room as he is guaranteed nearly 7 million dollars as a backup the next two years. 1 Quote
Aussie Joe Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Cowboys lol I mean… at least the Bills use their 4ths to trade up 2 spots in the draft .. 2 1 4 Quote
BigDingus Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Maybe it's just to push Dak in camp a bit, or add a little pressure when the team inevitably underachieves over a certain stretch. Obviously it's not a REAL threat to Dak, but it could be just enough to get that stupid portion of a fanbase calling for the backup & motivate Dak to prevent that. In reality, it's probably none of that, and I'm just trying to make it more interesting than it really is 😅 Quote
davefan66 Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Wow. Niners took a bath on the original trade. Purdy must be the real deal…so they think. 3 Quote

In his entire HS, collegiate and nfl career combined he has fewer passes than many nfl qbs threw last year alone. He was a long shot, and it’s even more uphill from here but with lowered expectations and a slower timeline, maybe he can contribute to a team down the line. Probably not “the guy” but a career backup is good work. Quote

Bangarang Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Really banking on Purdy being good. What an abysmal trade up to draft him. Quote

I wonder if it makes Cooper Rush available? 1 Quote
Andy1 Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 That ranks as one of the all-time busts given what they paid to get him. 1 2 1 Quote

If the 49ers believe he's a bust, it's a great deal to get rid of the obligation of paying him the next 2 years. In fact, the Cowboys should have demanded a draft choice from the 49ers to make the deal, like Cleveland did when Houston sent Osweiler to them. 1 Quote

This is their M.O. they traded a third for drew henson years ago and he was equally as awful as lance, he was actually better. I remember parcells was pissed and said the guy couldn't play from day one. Somehow Jerry is convinced this guy is a star and he is a mini nfl celebrity. Everything jerry loves. 1 Quote
