Artful Dodger Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Any objective observer would have to conclude that Josh Allen has the best elbow in the NFL. Quote

Yea he doesn't get all the reps in practice so he's gonna get time he's just watching and I'm sure it feels better with some of the cool days we gèt compared to his home in CA. Big reason some FA don't flick to northern teams and the warmer teams get some advantage in that regard. Edited August 16, 2023 by AuntieEm 1 Quote

Got it. Did you know that Aaron Rodgers (whom you mentioned in your earlier post) fractured his right (throwing) clavicle twice, in 2013 and 2017? Have those injuries "added up" to where he can't throw the ball well any more? He has also had three concussions, the last in 2018. Per usual, you make up stuff and exaggerate to try and prove your point. We know you are on a crusade that Josh Allen doesn't protect himself well enough, despite the fact his two most significant injuries occurred in the pocket. The question asked in this thread is whether or not Josh's elbow is still an issue. None of us know that, but by all accounts he is "slinging it" just like we've come to expect. I'm very aware that Rodgers fractured his collar bone in 2013 and 2017...........but by your logic those don't count........because Josh Allen's two collar bone breaks don't count because they happened in a similarly distant time frame between 2011 and 2015. As for the elbow.........Josh Allen has had two UCL tears in 5 years in the NFL and Rodgers has had none in 18 years(15 as starter). I know what the question was. I very clearly addressed that in the first sentence of my response to the OP so maybe go back, read that and get back in your bottle. My point stands.........he's had more arm/shoulder/collar bone injuries in over a decade less of football than Aaron Rodgers. He's also had more rushing attempts thru age 26 than Rodgers had until his age 35 season. It's common knowledge that Allen is putting a lot of hard miles on his body. 1 1 Quote

Throwing a football isn't a "natural" motion, and it can be hard on your joints, ligaments, and muscles. Throwing a football is natural. It's pitching a baseball that's not natural. That's why pitchers are always at risk of throwing out their shoulder or elbow. Quote

We’re talking about a guy who said he almost didn’t wear sleeves during the Patriots wildcard playoffs game which was 0 degrees outside. Now he where’s sleeves to every practice in 80 degree heat and just coincidentally started wearing them every practice, which hasn’t been the case all of training camp until that point. Maybe it’s nothing and I hope it’s nothing but being that I’ve partially torn my own UCL, from experience I can tell you it took almost 2 years to get to 100% Get real with your bull####. If there was ANY sign of Josh Allen having soreness in his elbow they would shut him down until the regular season started. 1 Quote

When the UCL injury occurred, there were many concerns that it could be a long-term/career type problem. It clearly bothered him up until the season ended in January, and there is no guarantee he's just going to be OK with an offseason to rest. From reports, he's taken at least 2-3 hard hits in training camp. And it was after one of these incidents that he went back with the training staff, and since that point has suddenly started wearing sleeves at all times. Maybe it's a precaution. Maybe it's a coincidence. Or maybe there was a flare-up. You really can't expect the coaching staff to tell us if this was the case. For all the videos of Josh "slinging it" all over the field, he was doing it last year too after the injury. The issues that cropped up where mostly with short-range accuracy, and times he needed to adjust his arm angle. The first few weeks Josh didn't throw during the week. I would say in at least the first 3 games the lack of arm strength was noticeable on many of his passes. There was little to no zip. There were also passes where it was apparent that he was trying to use more body and less arm. One that comes to mind is the 5 yard td to Diggs against Cleveland 2 weeks after the injury. With no one near him he nearly fell over to his left because he was using some much of his body on that throw. Out of the first 3 games after Josh's injury I thought his arm looked the best against the Vikings, only a week after the injury. Then the following week against Cleveland and looked the worst in the Loins game on only 4 days rest. He had a couple big throws in that game, that he ripped it, but there were a number of passes that had no zip on them at all. All in all, if there was something wrong with his elbow, I would think management would be smart enough to sit him for awhile seeing how real games are still 3 weeks away. Quote

By your logic, only "arm/shoulder/collar bone" count, but that's ridiculous! How many times has Rodgers played through injuries and hurt his team? Why is it that Rodgers, who doesn't put his body on the line NEARLY as much as Josh, have so many more injuries? You're being disingenuous. https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/aaron-rodgers/2636 https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/josh-allen/9962 Quote

Rodgers has had his share of nagging injuries.........especially as he's aged..........and he's had injuries to both calves between OTA's and camp this year as well. But other than the two broken collarbones(which I've often referenced when pointing out injuries that Josh is susceptible to due to his style of play) that's the extent of shoulder/elbow injuries that Rodgers has had in 18 years in the NFL. His arm is pretty much the same as it's ever been. Elbow pain from repetitive injury can really end it for a QB. See Jim Kelly and his hematoma for an elbow late in his career........or more recently Ben Roethlisberger. Quote

Might be easily managed but if it's being managed okay and I truly believe our medical staff would not sign off on it if it were a risk to his long term ability. And honestly I'd think they also do prioritize players long term health. This isn't the redskins mismanaged Griffin 3 because a use they had a viable bu plan with Cousins. I kept playing softball while I was younger even when I had obviously torn my rotator cuff. Had to have been a minor tear as I still was able to throw just messed with my mechanics a bunch esp as I constantly tweaked it the whole softball season that year. I initially started that season with a cast on my throwing arm as I had broken 2 fingers on my last day of duty at my German base, in like mid Dec. Then it took until like may before I didn't need a cast it was a clean break just I didn't let having a cast stop me from playing softball or volleyball at my new base at Eglin FL. So I likely added to the time it took the fracture to heal sufficiently. The added weight of the cast and Tha awkward grip I had because of the cast had partial buildup to mid knuckles of the 2 fingers that were fractured at the palm area of the pointing finger and my middle finger. That likely cause the tear on so n e throw I put extra velocity 8nto and the added wight of cast likely caused a tear. I never did go get it checked. I just play through the pain. Once I was not playing either it healed up as I have never had any further issues with it. Quote
