Good points and I agree. We must also remember that the entire NFL is short on quality depth at O-Line positions in general. There's not a ton coming up through the pipelines in college football.

Certainly agree with this.

If Torrence can win the RG spot, I have to think Ryan Bates is one of the best OL6 in the NFL.  Most teams don't have anyone as good as him off the bench and most teams don't have much at tackle depth if their starter goes down.

What is frustrating to me though.. back to back years draft RD3 RB's... then back to back years drafting RD3 LB's.. If OL depth is such a struggle, I just wish we would have prioritized it a bit more in recent years.

Taking Torrence is a start though..

Regardless of this development, I'm still very uncomfortable with this oline as a whole.

With that said, won't be surprised if Beane tries making a power move for another proven veteran since he some chips available to play with (i.e. defensive line depth).

I thought you got hit by a bus?

Yep.. and much like with mister Mahomes, Josh and the offense would be near unstoppable (its close already w/o) with a top 10 OL. I can only imagine how unfair it would look out there.

Who from the supposed DL depth pool is going to fetch a proven OL? Basham? No. This ship has sailed. Beane’s sole addition to OT retired after the first preseason game. It’s quite remarkable they’re still in this position at OL.

Bates and Edwards would be one of the best interior depth in NFL.

Doyle and Quessenberry is probably below average OT depth at OT. Doyle is very unknown at this point but a very athletic OT.

Everyone says Basham, but I'm not sure what we plan on doing next year with no cap space and only Von, Ed and Rousseau under contract if Boogie is traded.

AJE would have legitimate trade value.. nothing crazy, but probably enough to swing a player for player trade or an early Day 3 pick.  I know the staff is high on him, but I'd be tempted to move him for a swing tackle before Basham.

I would honestly keep Basham, if anything get rid of Epenesa.

But to be frank this so called depth probably isn't as good as some think, not like we are sitting on a bunch of 8 -10 sack a season guys especially in this scheme.

Not shocked. Looked a bit to me like he was going through the motions on Sat. Was right on the roster bubble. If your heart isn't in it then no need to out yourself through any more.

That's lousy. I thought he may play a big part in a plan B for Brown.

So did I...oh well an already mediocre OL just got a little more comprimised .

Has Spencer Brown ever started in the NFL? Josh Allen would probably get sacked the most in the NFL if Brown starts. Our offense wouldn’t finish top 10 with Brown at RT, definitely wouldn’t sniff top 3.

He started his rookie season

This seems to be repeated everywhere as if to excuse Beane…. As if it’s impossible to build a good offensive line in today’s NFL….meanwhile the Bills Achilles heel the past three seasons(Chiefs) did it in one offseason..…. You can do it if you invest and don’t half ass it to prioritize other(namely defense) positions…. McBeane finally did more there this past offseason though not sure they did enough.

Its repeated nationally, by many tuned into the game in its current state, because its true.

Aside to that, that's what my discussion with SC was about... Hoping for improvement in the Bills Starting O-line, while realizing that depth is not always possible.

The "excuse Beane" part of the discussion is a childish approach that I don't really try to get involved with.

I just looked and it turns out Brown has started the last 2 years. Go figure. The way people talk about him I thought he would ruin the entire season.

Huh? I mean Quess was arguably better in pass protection just last season than Brown…. The issue is it’s questionable if they’ve even had a quality RT to begin with….

And Quessenberry is the one that whiffed getting Allen hurt.

The one positive with Brown is he can improve. Unbelievable size and athleticism combination. And entering his 2nd season he couldn’t train.

Yup, the  college ranks ARE NOT pumping out quality O-lineman at the decades long demand that the NFL needs. It appears college teams aren’t particularly interested in coaching up O line guys for the pro game…
