BuffaloBillyG Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 (edited) Welp, there's one tackle down. Likely the corresponding move to Matakevich coming off PUP Â Â Edited August 15, 2023 by BuffaloBillyG 1 1 1 Quote

RichRiderBills Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 That's lousy. I thought he may play a big part in a plan B for Brown.   2 4 Quote

PBF81 Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Did he at least take his jersey off and leave the field in a huff shirtless?  1 Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 It’ll be interesting to see how the Bills respond to this. Possibly Shell fell down the depth chart. We’ll see. I thought he’d give Brown some competition. 1 Quote

TheBrownBear Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I haven't been following the offseason or camp too closely. Is this a big loss with regards to tackle depth? I thought Shell was considered someone that could potentially start if needed. How's he looked in comparison to Tommy Doyle? And I would think this bodes well for Gouriage making the team? Not a big loss based on what I have read from camp 1 1 Quote
Roundybout Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Sounds like he didn’t think he was gonna have a place on the team and decided to hang it up. 6 year career isn’t bad at all. Quote

Tommy Doyle definitely looked the part of the 3rd OT. So this could be Shell responding to his roster status. 1 2 Quote
SCBills Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 (edited) Interesting.. I wonder if this took the Bills by surprise or if he fell down the depth chart because of the play of someone like Gouraige?...  From what I've heard of Van Demark, he seems far better at LT than RT.   Doyle is intriguing if he can have some better injury luck... this attributes are off the chart.   Edited August 15, 2023 by SCBills Quote

Simon Says Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Would this justify a trade or "significant " FA addition after cut downs ? Quote
MasterStrategist Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I think there was always a decent chance we were keeping: 1 Vet backup and 1 young/developing backup at our 2 tackle spots for depth. Based on camp reports and performance in game 1.  So it was likely down to Quesenberry vs Shell & Doyle vs Gourirage vs VandeMark. Possible we roll with a combo of Doyle and a young guy, but I think the staff likes Quessenberry.
