I still don't get the Jets hype train, but this was a great signing and will go a long way in terms of keeping pressure off Rogers to be savior everyone is expecting him to be.

Bills need to be ready and come out strong on the MNF to slow down the hype in NY.

Come on now. Pro bowlers by default. They are good but neither are elite.  The Bills oline has a lot to prove.

So the Bills Cook and other Bills RBs hype is unwarranted based on your premise?

The Bills oline has less question marks than the Jets that is what I was alluding too

I know one game does not make a season, but if we can take them out in the season opener it could really sour their expectations for the season, especially with the NY media.

Week 2 they play at Dallas. That won't be easy either. Send them to Texas 0-1 and the pressure to avoid an 0-2 start will be gigantic.

I wonder if Breece Hall may not be ready as soon as they hoped? Or maybe they want a backup option in case he’s not back to pre-injury levels this season.

I also wonder if this signing has anything to do with keeping Aaron Rodgers happy and giving him another offensive weapon after he took that pay cut?

edit - the Jets just activated Hall off PUP. Sounds like this was more about giving Aaron Rodgers 2 good RBs, or at least according to the athletic.

Quote

For the better part of Rodgers’ last six years in Green Bay, the Packers carried (at least) two starter-quality running backs, and split their carries evenly. For the last two years, that was Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. In 2020, it was Jones, Dillon and Jamaal Williams. And from 2017 to 2020, it was Jones and Williams.

The Jets fully believe Hall is a star. They like Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and rookie Israel Abanikanda, too. But combine the latter three together as a package, and they still don’t quite equal what Cook can do. Even as his numbers have declined, Cook has been better (including in 2022) than any running backs the Jets have employed in a while. Hall’s ceiling is even higher. Together, if healthy, they’ll form one of the best one-two punches in the league.

“As a defensive coach, I’ll just sit there and say: Gosh, you have Breece and Michael and him, and you’ve got two of those guys in the backfield,” Saleh said. “There’s a lot of different things you can do to create a bunch of headaches for defensive coaches. (Cook)’s not a trick back, either: You can turn around and hand him the ball and he’ll run downhill. He’s done it for a long time.”

There’s also the obvious Rodgers part of the equation: He took a pay cut to save the Jets $35 million of what he was owed over the next two years to help them spend money elsewhere to improve the roster around him on their Super Bowl hunt. This, as much as any move the Jets made this offseason, felt like it had Rodgers’ desires in mind.

If anyone thought Cook’s addition was a sign that Hall’s recovery from a torn ACL was slower than expected, the reality is actually the opposite. Hall is on track to return by Week 1, and Cook still needs some time for both personal reasons (he’s expecting a child) and health (coming off shoulder surgery).

The Bills technically have two pro bowlers on the oline in Morse and Dawkins so technically yes they are much better

Tyrod was a pro bowler too, so technically we had no need to draft that Allen kid

Lots of new faces for the Jets on week 1. They can easily be off their game and we could beat them easier than expected.

I think they’ll be very strong as the season progresses.

Uncommon opponents

buf plays bucs, jax and cincy

jets play falcons , hou and Cleveland

if jets win MNf. The margin of error to win division is so tight given they have 3 pretty much given wins while buf could be 1-2 maybe 2-1

that's what camp and practice is for. It's going to be tough playing them on road.

I don't think that's the case. With a suspect OL, all they need Rodgers to do is be a smart game manager and make good throws when he has to.

You are echoing what I have been saying for months.

The Jets were 7-4 going into December last season. They were a QB away from being a playoff team.

They have fantastic RB’s, a very good young WR, a HOF quarterback, the best CB in the NFL (who also has the refs under his thumb, one of the best DT’s in the league, and good d-line depth.

They also beat us once last year (despite being handicapped with a very poor Zach Wilson at QB), and kept us to under 200 yards passing in both games (even the one where we won).

I think a lot of Bills fans are in denial about that Jets team and it will be a fight for the division until Week 17.

Scary is, as Scary does.  On paper, sure, they've become a very talented offense.  But as I've said before, football games are played on grass or turf, on Sunday

Hackett has had a top rushing offense twice in his career as an OC/HC: 2013 in Buffalo with FredEx and CJ Spiller; and 2017 in Jax with Leonard Fournette.

Green Bay had kind of a mediocre run game while he was there, and that was an improvement on their previous celler-dwelling lack of run game.

That's deep, man.

We actually play them on Monday.

Your first few comments are all cliches... they are good on the field too, that's where all these players have made their reputations.
