I think they feel good about the LB room. I don't know what to make of it but I would be surprised at this point to see beane address it.

 

I would also be shocked if they trade any DB. After last year, I don't see them thinning the herd there. Not yet.

 

But I do think there will be trades. Beane will move a couple cut candidates for late rounders. If there were going to be any significant trade, I would imagine it would involve a position they've already kicked the tires on and tried to improve already, like WR.

 

A team like this isn't trading anyone good for less than a player. At least not before the season. If beane is letting go of someone good, he's got to know what he is getting back will help us towards a championship this year.

Zach Martin is still a holdout for the Cowboys. I would love for the Bills to work out a trade. Martin is exactly what the Bills could use but financially I don't think Beane could make it work.

Elam is a first round pick in just the 2nd year of his rookie deal, adjusting to zone defense. Bills might adjust the scheme to fit and you  end CB depth. He isn't going anywhere.

The Bills need another RIGHT GUARD? A highly paid 33 year old right guard? If Beane could raise that kind of money, he would be better off investing in a right TACKLE.

Agree,  Elam isn’t going anywhere, especially as a 1st round pick entering his second season coming of a 3 pick rookie season, imo, unless we got an offer we couldn’t refuse…, outside of that he is a lock for the next couple seasons.

Maybe a disappointment to YOU. Did you see him play last year? Yes,he has to adjust to the Bills zone D but corners can take 2 or 3 years to develop.

Next question; would you be comfortable with the remaining depth? Are you ready to put Austin or Ingram or Lewis there? 

I think the Bills have a good CB group that will be needed to defend 3,4 WR alignments.

I understand that it can take a while for draftees to find their footing in the NFL, but it has to be a concern that a first round pick who was specifically drafted to replace Dane Jackson, is struggling to win that job.  Now, I know that Jackson isn’t horrible, but they clearly wanted to upgrade from him and that hasn’t worked out so far.

 

To the 2nd question, if Jackson and Benford beat Elam out, then sure I’d be comfortable trading him.

 

Yes, I saw Elam play last year and I thought he played reasonably well, but it doesn’t seem that the coaches are confident in him.

He was drafted for his physical tools and his ceiling. This is a guy you develop, not trade. You never have too many capable CB’s. I’m with you, hoping it starts to slow down for him and he lives up to his draft status.

Add more chips to the pile to use as trade capital. Beane LOVES that stuff! But it does look funny when you have a ton of them. I was happy to carry some picks forward. That’s always a nice feeling.

IDK, but if I'm a GM I'm not sure I'm willing to trade any player that's going to make a difference for another player, when in a few weeks teams are going to be waiving nearly 40% of their players, minus IR stocks etc., in the cut from 90 to 53.  

 

Were there a lot of trades last season before final cuts?
