PromoTheRobot
It's better than the automatic 25-yard line stuff now. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-considers-alternatives-to-the-kickoff-including-the-xfl-model Edited August 3, 2023 by PromoTheRobot
thenorthremembers
Dear NFL, You had it right to begin with.. Stop messing with stuff. Love, Everyone Edited August 3, 2023 by thenorthremembers 18 1 10 1
gobills1212
Imo, it brings excitement back to a play thats become mostly a bore. We can say 'they had it right' and be ignorant to player health and the reasons as to why it changed -OR- we can just accept that with time things change and try to find an exciting new solution. This is the best Ive personally seen yet. It doesn't make it a non-play and it doesn't eliminate it from the current game either. Its a solution that mimicks the original in both excitment and the ability to flip a game. The caveat is, man... it wld be annoying to give up multiple TDs a game bc the new version of a coverage crew is terrible. 2

17islongenough
Did they approve the fair catch rule? If so this a much better alternative
Rc2catch
I would be in favor of adapting a few things from the XFL.
Jamie Nails
They should go with the original XFL possession scramble too.

The guy is hated as much inside the league as he is by his readers.
Herc11
I'm not familiar with the XFL. So the onside kick goes away?

If the Bills win the coin flip, it is their option to select an opposing receiver (WR, TE, or RB) to catch a Josh Allen rocket. 😁 Edited August 3, 2023 by Ridgewaycynic2013

Onside kick stays, but you can only tag the ball carrier while yelling "All-y all-y in free!" 1
Gregg
Not a big deal to me either way. About 80% to 90% of kickoffs go into the endzone anyway and the receiving team just starts at the 25. Edited August 3, 2023 by Gregg

In the XFL the onside kick is replaced by converting a 4th and 15 from your own 25. 3 hours ago, unbillievable said: easy onside kick recovery! See above. PromoTheRobot
Another interesting rule difference in the XFL is extra points. No more kicking for one. You have to score a TD from 2 yards out for 1 point, 5 yards for 2, or from 10 yards for 3.
HOUSE
The XFL is a great example for the NFL, that's why every game is sold out 3
