Surfmeister Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I thought Lenny Kravitz was suppose to be the next Hendrix. 348969 no no he's the next Monty Rock III
Surfmeister Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Next Hendrix?? All I can say is DAMN!! 348929 Thanks the kid is great ! I can see those 7 year old groupies lining up now ~
34-78-83 Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Let's just hope he doesn't take the "Yngwe route" and he'll be just fine.
Surfmeister Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I agree. At 8 years old I hadn't even dreamed of blowing up my first heathkit amp yet. At least his folks got him some nice equipment.
Ralonzo Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Eddie was great. Betcha don't know who he lists as one of biggest influences on his style of playing: Steve Hackett, who used to be in Genesis. Listen to his stuff with them from 1971 and you can hear were Eddie got some ideas. 349000 That's no joke. Hackett's work on "The Musical Box" would not be out of place in any given heavy-metal song. I go back and marvel at how amazingly aggressive it is even after the musical developments (and devolutions) of the last 34 years.
Surfmeister Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 i agree that rolling stone sucks, and i agree that that kid is impressive as hell, given his age, but musically, that's a snoozefest in my opinion. A million notes a minute and no two good ones in a row, as Keith Richards once said. There are a zillion guys who can play like that, and none of them are good songwriters imo. van halen woke up the world with that kinda play within pretty good rock n' roll songs, but it didn't exactly have the legs to stand the test of time. I'll take a four note solo if it's moving and really suits the song over a solo like that. but still, for his age, that's nuts. 348942 The kid is barely out of diapers. He's getting his chops together now technically. We have to wait a while until he has experienced life more until he can place real emotion and true soul behind the music ... like when he's 10 or 11. Plus, think of it. If he was playing with real soul AND that fast now at age 8 it would be too creepy to watch. Like some alien walk-in or Stephen King book.
