He doesn't need a better QB he needs to play in a league where QB's just chuck and duck the ball into traffic to avoid hits. That would be the XFL or USFL. This does not sound good 😕 1 Quote

A lot of hand wringing over nothing. Best case- he looks like he could push bottom of roster. Worst case- rash string of injuries on a short week, and we have a ranked list of possible WRs to reach out to for emergency. 3 Quote

BigAl2526 Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 I think the staff Buffalo has is more thorough in their due diligence than they have ever been in the past. I think they have data on hundreds of players who have been in the NFL, XFL, CFL, Arena football and others (if there are any others). I don't know if they were specifically looking to upgrade the back end of their WR group when they brought in Isabella and Harry (and any others) or it was a routine visit like lots of players make throughout the year. Obviously, the Bills liked what they saw in Isabella over what they saw in Harry, but that doesn't mean they have necessarily eliminated Harry from future consideration should the need arise. In any case, if there is a player out there who can help the Bills, the Bills' pro personnel staff is going to do their best to find them. 1 2 Quote

They work these guys out as backups to the 69 of you include PS, and when one guy goes down, they have already worked out some guys to make them a cheap offer after the season starts so their salary is not guaranteed. Just know you’ll read about another 7-10 guys by the end of August. As Beast points out it’s an every year occurrence for as long as I can remember. 1 Quote

There are a lot of unknowns. The quality of the Bills WRs seem questionable after Diggs. A lot of guys will have to improve and step up their game. That certainly can happen. On paper, I would say the Bills WR core looks average. Allen can make average WRs look very good though. Personally, I wish the Bills upgraded the position more. Kicking the can with guys like Isabella and Harry don't get me excited whatsoever. 1 minute ago, John from Riverside said: Wide receiver is not an issue It was last year. Quote

They give you 800 yards in a down year. The third options on the team are plenty If you wanna call Dalton an unknown, that’s fine 1 Quote

Diggs is excellent and I'd be foolish to say otherwise. However, let's look at Diggs the playoff WR. Clearly, his production falls off dramatically. Why? One big factor is because teams double Diggs and take him out of the game. We've seen this time after time. Davis burned the Chiefs two years ago. However, Davis was mostly an after thought and a WR 3/4 at that time. Davis as a WR2 doesn't exactly scare defenses. He's an average WR2 at best. Pointing to 800 yards of production only gives you limited insight. There are many other stats that aren't as glowing. No need to rehash them. Davis doesn't suck but I'd advocate an upgrade was needed. Davis as a WR3 would be much more viable. The rest of the WRs are nothing to sneeze about. Bunch of recycled players that hopefully can be productive. Others are young and unproven. I just don't see this WR core as a strength of the team. Nor do I see it as a weakness. It's middling. I have my doubts if it's good enough to compete for a deep playoff run. Then again Mahomes won it all on one leg and a subpar WR group. The real out for the Bills is Allen, Dorsey, and the oline. Allen can make this mediocre core of WRs better. I have no doubt the Bills offense will be productive but that's mostly because of Allen. Dorsey has to put Allen in the best positions to succeed.
