Andy Reid (active head coaches) coaching tree and Super Bowls... time to close the circle!

Recommended Posts

Five from the Andy Reid coaching tree are now active NFL head coaches:

John Harbaugh - Super Bowl XLVII champion (Head Coach)

Ron Rivera - Super Bowl XX champion (player)

Doug Pederson - Super Bowl XXXI champion (player), LII (Head Coach)

Todd Bowles - Super Bowl XXII champion (player), XXXI (executive) and LV (assistant)

Sean McDermott

Of those five as you can see, only McD has never won a Super Bowl as a player or a coach, head or assistant. It's time to close the circle and make it 5 for 5. I'm ready for this great promise to end in a Buffalo Bills Super Bowl championship!!!

Rivera is on the coaching tree SB list for a win as a player (not coached by Reid)?

He's at least won a Super Bowl and knows what that experience is like as a player, a point of reference... McD is the only one to not have even that.

it has nothing to do with being part of that coaching tree.

Rivera gets canned during or after this season

Reid is a better coach than Belichick.

The difference is one had Brady for 20 years and one had decent but not elite QB talent until recently. Reid still won a lot of games over many years with journeymen at QB. Belichick has done almost nothing without Brady.

Interesting point about Reid being better than Belichick.  And maybe he is.

But I think about this.  In their glory days, Brees, P. Manning, Rodgers, and others were producing the same statistical excellence as Brady.  But how many Super Bowls did those Head Coaches win?   Not as many as BB.

No he didn't.

Vick was a journeyman.  Reid won 20 and lost 20 with Vick.

Maybe you if want to call Alex Smith a journeyman (he really wasn't).  He was 38-36 in SF, 11-5 in Washington.

Reid and McNabb went to the NFCC championship 5 times and lost 4 times--including 3 in a row.

Belichick brought a 3-13 Browns team a few years later to 11-5 and the playoffs and beat NE....with Vinny Testeverde as QB.
