Each NFL team, including the Buffalo Bills, received $372 million from the league's national pot that is divided among the 32 teams in 2022, according to Front Office Sports.

The majority of the payment – $249 million – comes from the NFL media rights deals that bring in more than $10 billion annually and will continue to rise.

The per-team distribution represents an increase from $343.75 million for each team in 2021 and it has grown from $244 million per team for the 2016-17 fiscal year.

The $1.4B the Pegulas paid was seen as a gross overpayment at the time.  Not so much anymore.

He's pry doubled his money by now.

...So any of us could do that too if we had a spare couple of billion.

You could double your money fairly simply even without billions! It just won't feel as good :)

I'm about to come up on Rory at the Open so I kind of know the feeling

I hit a 100 to 1 bet last week on Bailey Tardy making top 10 at Pebble so I think it’s the same feeling too.

And the true benefit of NFL ownership has nothing to do with annual income anyway.

The real money to be made here is when you buy low, then sell the franchise down the road for way more than you paid for it.

You are right, Pegula "overpaid" at $1.4 billion.

He hasn't owned it THAT long....and now it is valued at $3.4 BILLION DOLLARS!

Nevermind a few hundred million per year!  That's pocket change!

The dude has now made TWO BILLION DOLLARS for having the fun of getting to control an NFL football team and sit in the owners box and schmooze everyone in the league that's worth schmoozing.

This is why the rich get richer....the more you have, the more you get.....FOR FREE.

Yeah, and that's why I laughed at anyone who said he overpaid (maybe he did, but it was moot in the grand scheme).  Sports franchises only increase in value.

It’s also why NYS/ERIE or any public shouldn’t pay for these stadiums. I agree with us doing for bills. But they’ve got a  monopoly and can afford to pay for the monopoly infrastructure. Not unlike utilities.

And I thought I was doing well because I just barely cracked 6 figures last year (which ironically, $2000 of that was spent on 2 bills games)

That's 148 million more than the salary cap this year.

It's always been a free money league, if you can afford the entry price.

And that doesn't include the 231m (est) in local revenue

The Bills make $231 in local revenue?

The only team that has open books is the Packers and that was their last financial statements. Thats considered best estimate

I doubt it.  Total revenue listed as 480 by Forbes.

Oh, that's the Packers.  I thought you (Mike) were saying the Bills.  Yeah I seriously doubt they get anywhere near that.
