As long as you guys believe Democracy is defined as a condition where the majority is entitled to have their way on everything against the minority then we're doomed. Our system has lots of checks and balances against such abuses. And while this is painful, its one of them based on the rules of Congress. The administration has a choice here. Why does it HAVE to be a group vote ? Maybe some senators don't want to be on record for individual votes ? OR, they could change the policy of an individual senator being able to put a hold on vote. . . . . . . WHY DON'T they do that ? Nope. No one here can think past the headline. B-Man Posted November 3, 2023 Share Posted November 3, 2023 Please read. Tuberville is standing up against a radical and extreme pro-abortion policy that the Biden administration imposed on the DOD. What Tuberville has done to stand up against this abortion policy is both simple and reasonable, something all Republicans could easily support. Rather than approve hundreds of military promotions without any oversight whatsoever, he's requiring the Senate to actually vote on them. This is not how McConnell/Schumer/Biden would like it to go. They want it to just sail through with a unanimous consent vote and keep the abortion policy in place. Tuberville has said for months that he's willing to go back to the old procedure of just letting them through without a vote if Biden will simply rescind his illegal and extreme pro-abortion policy. A second feature of his hold on promotions, in the meantime, is that candidates have been able to be vetted a little bit, revealing that at least 40 percent of the candidates for promotion are beholden to dangerous DEI ideology, a scourge that is plaguing military readiness and effectiveness. Anyway, instead of pressuring Biden to stop his radical baby-killing policy, or doing anything whatsoever to stop the spread of DEI in our country's war-fighting apparatus, McConnell is pressuring ... TUBERVILLE. So last night he had his deputies go to the floor and freak out over Tuberville. How DARE Tuberville actually be pro-life instead of just pretending to be, like the rest of them? So they made him object to "unanimous consent" for a bunch of different nominees. For four hours they suggested he was a terrorist, that he was making Putin and Xi happy, and said that his pro-life efforts on behalf of innocent children and their mothers were a "suicide mission" and had to end.
