Biggest difference IMO was willingness to sell front page advertising space.

It would be like Bills selling ad space on helmet to ECMC with print "Concussion Care".

Before and after of 2nd set of pictures makes no sense.

if CPI underestimates inflation, then @Einstein point is still correct, the paper raised it’s prices in response to inflation. His CPI calculator showed the paper today at $28, and if underestimated the paper should cost more.

I do my best to only debate with those who possess a comparable level of intellect (or at least within a handful of levels) to mine.

Therefore I do not entertain Limeade anymore. He simply doesn't have the cognitive capacity.

CPI represents the prices of all goods and services purchased for consumption by households.

And yes, as you pointed out, CPI underestimating inflation furthers my points.

No one was ever talking about new subscriber rates or one month introductory offers.

If you see a higher price, dont accept it. Find a better offer. Not hard to find.

I apologize in advance to everyone who has this poster on ignore for some reason (we get it), but this is such classic stuff I thought you might appreciate it. If not? My bad.  🤷‍♂️

Oh, okay. Continue on with your "Local Media is desperately trying to stay alive. F em!" thread.

Come off it you don’t need to be defender of the Buffalo news. I’m a longtime subscriber. My thread was borne of facts including an email from the news itself and also the rates for a new subscriber. The amount in the email is very high in a relative sense, everyone but you agrees, thus a thread to discuss

I feel badly actually, because I’m not sure if you can distinguish between people laughing with you, and people laughing at you. So feel free to carry on with….whatever it is you do.

If people aren’t going to pay for local press, don’t complain when all you have left is Skip Bayless types.

They aren’t raising the price because they want a new sports car. They’re doing it because they are barely staying afloat.

that’s all well and nice but it’s rare they are actually providing meaningful local coverage. It’s a really challenging crossroads currently. We would all benefit from great local news, instead of the barrage of national headlines. We keep getting asked to pay more for worse local news content, and worse experiences. If my local paper gave exceptional coverage I’d be all about it, but local message boards seem to give more qualified deep dives into relevant issues while the local newsroom missed completely.

I do still prefer paper for books rather than kindle. But newspapers are doomed IMO. The other available options to get news for free spell its demise.

It sounds like the real mismanagement here was pricing all along. You can’t jerk people around like that with DRASTIC price hikes for the same thing! Even if they had unlimited money, they would resent that kind of sudden increase.

BTW - Has anyone heard the Bills have a new stadium coming?  😋

Agree completely.  I can read a book (i.e. classic pulp) on my 31" LCD screen but cannot read those books on kindle.

It absolutely does. This isn’t opinion - it’s fact. Technology doesn’t change the increased price of ink, paper, vehicles, salaries, etc.

It is not fact bc you quote ink prices and oil prices. But whatever man, you go about your business thinking it costs more money to print paper than 1990 🤣

So a real question, if I or anyone else subscribe for the intro offer in august for $1 for 6 months meaning 8/23-1/24 (that’s weird writing 2024), and lapse for 6 months has anyone tried to get it again 6 months later and if so is it a good rate?

Again a quick google search on a few factors does not prove your case. I am not going to argue man, you keep doing you.

Making a mistake doesn’t make you a fool. But refusing to admit your mistakes, shows how foolish you are.

Dude you are literally arguing the cost of production in 2023 is HIGHER than 1990. I mean give me a damn break. Like I said though. You do you.
