Then Lindsey Graham won in a landslide. From my time in the SE… northern voters moving to Florida and South Carolina are doing so because they lean right and want to be around people who think like them, lower taxes and better weather. South Carolina is as red as it’s ever been and Florida went from purple to ruby red. Now Georgia and North Carolina are a mixed bag, with some people fleeing for politics, but alot of people moving due to job relocation. When you have that, you have people who want their politics to follow where they were pseudo-forced to move to. Both states still lean red, and in Presidential elections will be lean R for anyone not named Donald Trump, but like PA, MI & WI, will have to be defended by the typically incumbent party. R’s should really examine Brian Kemp, as he is incredibly popular .. beat Stacey Abrams easily, and has shown R’s how to win suburban women and black men at a clip that makes them unbeatable in competitive states. This is TN. Most I've talked to that moved from blues were looking for freedom and happiness. 3 1

South Carolina | Spending Profile | USAspending I will give you more insight: How much federal funding each state receives from the government (usatoday.com) 12. Massachusetts • Net federal funding: -$2,343 per resident • Total revenue from fed. gov.: $78.7 billion (16th most) • SNAP benefit recipiency: 11.7 percent (25th lowest) • Median household income: $77,385 (4th highest) If the state is booming - medium household income should increase and net federal funding per resident should decrease. Correct? So, tell me, once again, why SC should continue to live off the federal government? They don’t. Where is it more lucrative to be a state employee? South Carolina or New York? Who gets more federal money per resident? Per capita. A state like NY or SC? It’s not the red states fault they have smaller, better budgets then blue state dumps. Every state gets federal money - it’s all very close as far as federal money as a percentage of their budget in all states. It’s a stupid pointless argument to make. Unless you want to work for a state like California or New Jersey where that becomes a fast track to wealth. You can then argue that living in a blue state is more lucrative if you get a cushy state job. Own a small business? You’ll be moving to Florida. 2 1

I'm not sure but it could be from the fact that Mass. has 6.985 mill people in a area of 7798 sq. mi. so one might think there is more taxable income there then SC has 5.191 mill people spread over 32,020 sq. mi.& i would think there is much more industry in Mass than in SC . After covid i'm not sure the effect on SC jobs market although every state was hurt by it if there weren't many jobs to start with it may have hurt SC much more than Mass. Nothing positive but just guessing though .

BillStime Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 So - according to MAGA nutters - no matter how positive Biden’s economy trends post a global pandemic - it’s the worst ever. Never mind the fact the “greatest potus ever” mismanaged the pandemic from the start, ignored his intelligence reports in 2019 and Conald still found away to steal from the treasury. But six red states are doing well for a change - most of them receiving more federal funding than they put in - yet their leaders are characterized as a success even tho blue states are still forced to subsidize them… lolz jfc - idiots everywhere 1 1

If you don't break it down per capita the information is completely pointless. Obviously, states with huge populations are going to receive more money, but per capita, most of those states are in the negative. 1

BTW - we couldn’t even buy toilet paper during Trumps presidency. Oh and speaking of Conald - Trump, too acknowledged that the economy does better under the Democrats - but that was probably when he was pro choice, too.

Nothing positive but just guessing though . I’d be interested in seeing how covid affected SC. South Carolina is basically three regions. Lowlands. (Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Hilton Head) Midland (Columbia) Upstate (Greenville, Clemson) I’m not sure how hard hit the coastal tourist areas were, but Greenville shut down for about a month and then partial reopening for a while … it seemed normal, but you still had restrictions. Id suspect you’ll see changing statistics soon from South Carolina. Greenville is one of the fastest areas of the country, but it’s very recent .. within the last five years or so. Also, as is the case with the coastal areas, Greenville is heavy hospitality/tourism. There’s something like 250+ restaurants downtown according the most recent estimates.
