The average Uhmerikan glued to this is probably more impressed by the guy who made the documentary on the Titanic than a guy with a degree from MIT on submarines Quote

There was obviously structural failure for it to implode. Quote

I guess and maybe they're just too busy like many of the world trying to avoid this crap to want to actually talk about it. Sadly, I'm sure Congress will dredge this out for an investigation, and there will be some big Netflix movie, and we will get a huge spin on it. Quote

Can I claim to be expert next plane crash? honestly, I don’t know how full involvement but I suspect he’s much more of a passenger than designer on these subs. Quote

But by design does that mean he actually knows the physics and engineering of the vehicles or he has opinions based on those experts to him? Or... Is he saying that they should make the feng shui a little more pleasing in the driver seat? Or they should make the entryway at a different angle to allow for various media reasons? I know he knows a lot about his field but his actual field isn't designing submarines. Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 Read this! Wow! https://komonews.com/news/loc...ron-ocean-surface-expedition "...Over cigars one night, (Stockton) Rush told Weissmann that he got the carbon fiber for the Titan’s hull at a big discount because it was past its shelf-life for use in airplanes, Weissmann said. But Rush reassured him it was safe. ..." Better to go stronger than carbon fiber. They have been doing this since the 1960s. I think the engineering is pretty well set... Even more so now! Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 (edited) Yeah... But I got some cheap expired carbon fiber. What could possibly go wrong after 12 dives! 😆 🤣 😆... He's treating it like one day old expired milk! /smdh... Where was this clown from? Edited June 25, 2023 by ExiledInIllinois Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 You'd think... They'd have a REMOTE "BlackBox" and sound bouy in place nearby to record every detail up until the last 40th millisecond the implosion went off. Would help the investigation. Quote

James Cameron helped design the submersible that he piloted to the very bottom of the Mariana Trench, making him only the third person to ever achieve this. I’d say his opinion on deep sea exploration is as well qualified as anyone else in the world. 4 Quote

This is hilarious. What’s even more hilarious is that somebody else tagged your post as “awesome.” So this site has tens of thousands of users, and surely MANY people have a different opinion than you, but you’re stating here that when somebody has a different opinion than you, and you see that in the first sentence or two of somebody’s post, you “stop reading.” Uh huh, right. If somehow you are being honest/serious here, I can’t imagine any adult being so triggered to compel such a reaction on a public message board. You would be “not reading” a ton of posts in here, simply because somebody else’s opinion was different than yours. I guess some people….like you…enjoy going through life in an echo chamber, and that is perplexing and sad. Quote

It didn't have a data recorder, but did have a transponder which was completely autonomous from the vessel, ie., had its own separate power supply etc. Given that the transponder stopped signaling at the same time communication was lost and research as well as intel listening devices picked up the big bang was a very strong indication the rescue attempt was irrelevant. 1 Quote
