stevestojan Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 This is absolute nightmare fuel. I couldn’t imagine many worse ways to go. At this point, I’m hoping the thing just cracked and the end was quick for these 5. However I’ve read that of all the ways the thing was duct taped together, the hull was one thing that wouldn’t fail. Also, was watching an interview with a guy who had been on this death trap last year. He said it wasn’t uncommon to lose communication for 2-3 hours at a clip. So he said that it was likely many many hours before anyone called the coast guard or for any other help. Quote

If you think this a nightmare, how about the 3 sailors alive on the USS West Virginia after Pearl Harbor. They stayed alive for 16 days judging from the calendar they made. They probably heard rescuers all the time. Sorry for the lack of empathy... I can't believe they were so complacent. At least it will be quick for these guys... ExiledInIllinois Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Take a look. I betcha it's these cluster of vessels that are working the area: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-59.0/centery:41.7/zoom:8 Or maybe not... lol Out there somewhere! Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Further east. A stopped vessel in the middle of nowhere. Seems to be the proper angle off of St.John's NF/LAB: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-49.8/centery:41.6/zoom:7 Quote
muppy Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 If this tourist craft Is found in time This story goes straight to Hollywood movie production. The script would literally write itself. Even if not found in time this story has the creep factor all over it. A mean gnarly Horror film instead. I would like to know one way or the other what did happen in the end. But I may need to learn with disappointment. 😙 We may never know. Having a black box aboard such craft is such a no brainer really it's amazing they never thought of it. Quote
stevestojan Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 I understand they also wouldn’t want to exit the vehicle underwater, nor could they with the pressure. But something about literally being bolted in from the outside adds to the terror of this for me. And, if the thing just used buoyancy and ended up breaking the surface, I assume that it doesn’t let air in at that point and still needs the bolts removed? Quote
Fleezoid Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 I hope they're found alive. And if they are, please keep them away from all rational people. From the Owner, Captain, to the passengers they clearly all lack any hint of sound judgement. Quote

The integrity (of hull) has to be maintained. Gotta just accept, it's a death trap. This one is going 13,000 feet. Military submarines go only like 1,500 feet... Not sure where I heard that. Update: They supposedly are picking up noises in the water... Quote
GoBills808 Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Can't bring myself to care about these rich idiots when 600+ migrants just drowned after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean sorry not sorry 2 2 1 Quote

It's giving me the creeps just sayin' I dont like to think about someone suffering this. mistake. BIG. Lord have mercy. Yeah it's interesting to me who we mock and who we don't when FAFO things happen. Even if we accept the premise that these folks are stupid and entitled they're still far less worthy of mockery than certain individuals in the last several years who had highly-publicized deaths and were instead rewarded with ivory or gold caskets and thousands of public mourners. Then of course there's the war porn constantly strewn about the internet over the last year; people clapping like seals over men being turned into ground meat on thermal cameras. 1 1 Quote

And that we are exposed to in news media on the daily. I don't applaud anybodies trauma. And these thrill seekers were out there looking for an adventure NOT death. It sucks really. It's unfortunate. And Hopefully these endeavors will be done more safely or not at all in the future. blech. Quote

From what seem to be expert posts in the field (who knows on the interwebs) I’ve seen a few posts about readings from the window where it disappeared there was a likely implosion picked up, and the current noises are likely normal day to day stuff 15 minutes ago, muppy said: this event is one more bit of drama and indeed even Trauma on top of all else we see that is wrong with the world. If you read about the USS Thresher... First nuclear submarine of ours to be lost... They were picking up weird sounds... But ruled it. Quote
SCBills Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) Legitimately the most terrifying thing I’ve ever heard in my life. I go into an existential crisis anytime I try to imagine what they’re going through. As someone above said … nightmare fuel. Listening to a Twitter space on this and it sounds like they have about 9 hours and 30 minutes left of air. …it would likely take about 8 hours to get it to the surface (allegedly) 5 hours ago, GoBills808 said: Can't bring myself to care about these rich idiots when 600+ migrants just drowned after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean sorry not sorry What if I told you that you can not be a ghoul and care about both… Edited June 22, 2023 by SCBills Quote

Did they deserve their prize too? No one should be able to force you to think or not think in a certain way. It seems you’re taking glee in some peoples horrific death because they were rich. That’s your prerogative. It’s my prerogative to find that pathetic and sad…..which I do. 1 1 Quote
