No J Mascis?  WTF?  That list is a complete joke!

Thank you. Thank you for reassuring me that there is sanity in this world.

The list is a joke, but I got some special satisfaction seeing Lou Reed 18 spots ahead of Eddie Van Halen.

There are so many things wrong with that list I can hardly even contain my amusement. If I limit my list to 5 beefs they are:

1. Joan Jett? WTF?

2. Anyone ever hear of Adrian Belew?

3. Anyone ever hear of Johnny Marr?

4. Anyone ever hear of Jorma Kaukonen?

5. Anyone ever hear of Lindsay Buckingham?

What a bunch of friggin morons.

Well, it *IS* Rolling Stone...

They should have done the list based on who has had the most influence on others. About a third of the current group would be immediately eliminated.

Some dude from Fleetwood Mac is on the list but Allan Holdsworth and Joe Satriani aren't? Please.

Though I've never been one to pay close attention to guitar players per se, I have been to a crapload of concerts from raggae to rock to blues to country to beach music to doowop and back again, and I have never, ever been more stunned, floored and just plain blown away to see the effortless style of BB King. I sat fourth row in a 3,000 seat theater.

Not sure how to describe it. I've seen people play "mean" guitars and "rockin'" guitars, etc., but this guy fuggin' owned the guitar to the point where I half expected him to just "tell" the guitar what to do and then see it float in the air and just do it.

If you've never seen him perform, I highly recommend it.

Dimebag, Slash, Zack Wylde, Kerry King, George Lynch... i'm sure there are a lot of others that should be on that list that i am forgetting.

I met George Lynch at the Guitar Factory @ Southgate Plaza, West Seneca. He was playing that night at a local club. Came to the GF to give a demo on guitar playing. My son takes lessons there. Played for like an hour non-stop as fast as anyone I ever saw, just rippin' on the guitar. Then spent another hour talking, taking questions, giving tips, and hanging out. The guy was really cool, great personality. He must be about 50, same as me. Comes in, takes off his jacket, sleeveless tight shirt, damn the guy was freakin' built for an old man!!! Bills players would be proud to have his body fat, or lack of

To each his own, I suppose. Personally, any list that doesn't start w/ Robert Johnson is bogus. I was also surprised for the lower marks for Mark Knopfler, Pete Townshend, Ry Cooder, Vernon Reid, and Les Paul. Also, Kurt Cobain was a better guitarist than Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, George Harrison, and Buddy Guy???

I love Satriani's music! There's one album of his in particular that I like. The very first song is awesome. I always thought it would be the perfect song to come out of a tunnel to before a football game. I just can't recall which album it is.

Most of them. Save his unfortunate techno-experiment from a few years ago (I give him points for being willing to experiment, but the album sucked), I can't think of a Satriani album that doesn't begin strong.

John Fahey at #35, below:

Jack White (three albums curbing blues riffs and he's #17 all-time)?

Johnny Ramone?

Jimmy Page (who admitted he owed a lot to Fahey's playing)?

The Edge (I get it, he knows how to use a stereo delay)?

Kurt Cobain (love him, but seriously)?

That's some disrespect. Anyone who's heard him knows what I'm talking about. This list is a joke.

I'm giving props to Danny Gatton at #63, who, if he hadn't committed suicide, (and possibly still) could kick all S's down to Ramone and Santana at 15 and 16.

Joe Satiriani was shafted as well.

Trey Anastasio @ 73  I demand a recount!!!! Head to head that cat would shred

95% of that list. So much for subjective lists

I rate Johnny Winter & Robbie Krieger much higher on that list.
