Diggs NOT at mandatory minicamp, McDermott "very concerned" DAY 2 UPDATE: He's back

What is sort of amazing about this situation is that it is suddenly nuclear, and for no coherent reason.  It’s not like he wants more money or he isn’t getting the ball. He is getting paid and gets the ball a ton.

The Bills are dealing with a totally irrational actor here.

OL = band aid application; RB= who cares; TE?  Might help probably won't see the ball much as he's a rookie and Mcdermott is a scared, conservative guy when it comes to playing rookies.  Relative to the improvements our main rivals have made, we've gone backwards this off-season.

Cody Ford

Dawson Knox

All these guys started as rookies.  Josh Allen did too but he came in early because Peterman was a disaster.

Dion Dawkins also started 11 games but didn’t put him on the original list because he split time for a bit with Cordy Glenn.  But still started 11 games.

Interesting that the new WR coach met with him as well.  Seems that a combination of wanting more input on game planning, getting the ball more, and not having input on the hiring process for the new WR coach could be at least part of the reason for the current situation with Diggs.

Another post that finally makes sense.  Some of these theories are wild.  Wonder how long their meeting was for😂

Yes it is.

Getting rid of Diggs drama and replacing it with the best WR in the league is a massive win.

How do you swing that?

Benford played right away as well.

Your prior post suggested two distinct benefits: getting rid of diggs, and adding Jefferson. One of those is a win and one isn't.

And yes, on aggregate, we all know the vikings replaced one of the best receivers in the game with the best receiver in the game and are reasonably happy with the net gain.

Perhaps they grossly underestimated Diggs conviction on the subject matter because they really, really can't relate to his point of view.

yeah

again...just not knowing anything more than what's been reported thus far I will say: of all the legitimate grievances Diggs could have w the Bills coaches, front office, Allen etc, I don't think what he's doing here could possibly be the best course of action if genuine resolution and getting back to winning football is truly his goal

They better have a plan to replace that production then. But yeah it was a long shot he played out that extension even without the drama.

It will be addition by subtraction. The tough part will be it will cost us some of our own FA’s just due to eating the Diggs contract.

We have 29 or 30 FA’s next season. Some notables in terms of snap count are Hyde. Jones, Davis,  AJE, Settle, and Lawson.

I’m trying to mess around with Spotrac to make anything work. The tough part of moving on now is the 2024 dead cap number of $31M. You can get through this years $13M by also begging Morse and Settle off the roster. But there’s no relief for 2024.

and again, it has netted them nothing in terms of team accomplishment. Not JJ’s fault obviously, but there it is.

edit: and compromises will be made once they give JJ his money.

I don’t care what happened with Diggs.  Any outside observer without Bills goggles on is telling you he’s headed to AB territory.  Something is wrong.  Way wrong.

And make no mistake this is a POS move on every level.

The only defense I have for the team is hopefully there were zero signs of a rift in February 2022 and before they extended him.  Or worse thinking extending him would appease him.

Those people should all be fired.

This is all potentially catastrophic.  This MFer better be there tomorrow stop tweeting in code like a Gen Z b**** and go ball or freaking retire for all I care.

So get rid of him and Beane and the coaches then. Got it.

Gotta disagree.  We upgraded on the O-line, at RB, and at WR.  People are sleeping on Harris a bit - his issue is injuries, but when healthy, he'll be a revelation.  We will finally have a running game.

Obviously, Kincaid hasn't played yet - but he has the skills to create real match-up problems for defenses, in a way that we have not been able to do.  Harty & Sherfield both address weaknesses we had in our WR corps last year -  both have great hands, are physical and get good YAC.  Shakir and Cook are both coming into a pivotal 2nd year after showing a lot of promise as the season went on last year.

If Davis can rebound, and Brown can take that next step - this will be the best offense we have had in the JA era, and possibly in Buffalo's history.

Whoa, that’s a bold statement Cotton….

Harty is now a physical receiver.?  Really?
