You don’t think Beane has the power to fire coaches?  He can fire the HEAD coach, get a grip man.   That’s like saying the VP doesn’t have the power to fire a customer service agent bc there is somebody between them.  Get real.

His biggest miss was signing Star Lotuleli.  Beane’s scouted and drafted Star in Carolina where he flashed but never lived up to his potential.  He decided to overpay for Star BIGLY and the return was 1 average season and 3 other years of below average play.  The Bills couldn’t get out of his contract which was a big opportunity cost. 
 

Of course, whenever I make this point there are people in here that try to pretend Star was better than he was.  But he wasn’t.  He was a massive, expensive, underwhelming BUST 

There’s something that has to be said about the picks at DE.  Epinesa sucked as a rookie, so they drafted Rosseau and Basham who also sucked.  So they had to overpay for a veteran Von Miller.  Von wasn’t a bad signing but had 1 of those 3 picks hit, they wouldn’t need to sign him

I’d also like to point out, that because of all those misses, you find yourself in a position with a TON of wasted cap space for under performing rotational players and one geriatric DE coming off an injury, so you couldn’t sign anybody of impact this year, but the apologist think I’m crazy for saying the piss poor drafting lead to over spending , which lead to holes in the roster.

Yeah and Crowder was just a $2M flyer on a player who had missed considerable time due to injuries in 3 of the prior 4 seasons and had a big dropoff in production the year prior.    It shouldn't have been a surprise that he got hurt again.   Or that OJ Howard was washed.   Everyone who had anything to say about OJ Howard said he was toast.   Those weren't even half-asssed attempts to add a difference maker to a passing offense that lacked explosiveness and had problems with drops.  They simply under-invested in passing game weapons for Josh Allen.    

 

And then THIS offseason the options available were much more limited so they ended up overpaying for Harty........a player who should have been a $1.7M flyer himself.    It's saying something that the best actual WR that they've added the past two offseasons might be Trent Sherfield.    Hopefully Kincaid pans out like we hope as a perma-flexed TE but we won't know until we see how the experiment works.

All I know for sure is the Cody Ford was not a good football player when he was here.

And Beane traded up to get him because he thought another team was going to grab him.   Doh!

He can't. Beane does not have the power to fire Sean. Sean does not report to Brandon by the heirarchy. They both report direct to Pegula. But McDermott weilds the power to the extent either does.

And Isaiah had beaten out Crowder prior to Crowder getting hurt. There is a little bit of re-writing of history that "ah well Crowder was their guy but he got hurt." He hadn't played more than half the snaps in any of the games for which he was healthy. Maybe eventually he would have ended up the starter. But he was not just injury prone, he was a diminished player having suffered so many injuries and came out of camp their backup slot.
