You all realize Hopkins gets to choose where he goes, right?

He will get more targets, money, and better chance of winning a ring if he signs with KC.

he literally named Josh Allen as his #1 QB he’d like to play with.

he won’t get more $ from KC. They have less cap wiggle room than us.

his targets can be apprx the same here as in KC. He’s option 1B in both places

If Beane lets this happen, especially considering the Chiefs are in even worse cap shape than we are, he will be gone within 3 years. Book it.

Here's the thing - we have a much better array of receiving weapons with Diggs, Kincaid, Knox, Davis, and pass catching backs like Cook and Hines than KC has with Kelce, their lackluster WR core, and style of Backs.

So if KC offers the same as we do, he may prefer to go to KC where he will clearly be the #1 WR and won't have incentives cut into from another WR like Diggs.

We could offer as much as we can. We could make that offer you posted from Cover 1. We could do that and KC could still land Hopkins through no fault of Beane's.

It's not as simple as just if Beane wants it and makes that offer, Hopkins is ours.

He'll always be viewed as more of a Kevin Durant to the Warriors if that happens.  Coming here he could be looked at as the guy who finally pushed the Bills over the top to win their first Super Bowl.  That would be my sales pitch at least.

Honestly man I don't want to hear the excuses. There are things Beane can do to make Hopkins affordable. The nuclear option would be trading Ed Oliver. Anything is better than letting another AFC team, especially the Chiefs, acquire him.

Really rather grand that apparently Hopkins will both choose KC over Buffalo because 1) they are better than us and give him a greater possibility of winning a SB and 2) they are also not as good as us possessing fewer offensive playmakers so Hopkins would have greater opportunities to shine and gain incentive money.

Reid + Mahomes + Kelce + their OL > Bills Current Offense

Kelce gets as many targets as Diggs

it seems simple enough that Hopkins chooses BUF if the offers are the same. He’s openly praised the franchise multiple times. He hasn’t done that with KC. He named Allen as the top QB he wants to play with. His Buffalo Solider thing wasn’t a coincidence. He obviously knew there was a real chance he was being traded here at that time

I had that exact thought, but you beat me to it. Strangely, he might “contribute” more in KC, but “mean” more to the Bills.

Restructure Tre White and offer DHop the Cover1 proposal 3 years 42 mil, up to 54 mil with incentives. 28 mil guaranteed with void years and spread the cap hit. It works. 4 mil hit this year, 6.5 mil hit next year

Yes, but what do they have besides Kelce? Their WR core is MVS and Toney. They have 1 good receiving Back in McKinnon.

Kelce and Diggs may be a wash. But Kincaid, Davis, Knox, Cook, Harty, and Hines are going to cut into his opportunities more than MVS, Toney, Moore, and McKinnon will - if Kelce and Diggs are a wash.

I thought you were level headed. When did you all of a sudden become the 'do whatever it takes or we're doomed' guy?

We could offer the same or offer more and there's a chance he still would prefer Mahomes, Reid, and KC over us. That's not "excuses".

I never said "they're better than us and give him a greater possibility of winning a SB". Even if I did (which I didn't), both can be true. They can have the better team all around between all of the positions combined on the field and coaching (again, I'm not saying they do) and still be weaker at the skill positions.

My level head tells me that if we have to contend against Kelce/Hopkins and Chase/Higgins for the next two years, we become dark horse Super Bowl candidates. Who knows what happens after that but I'm not comfortable waiting to find out.

I know opposing DBs fear Hopkins. I can't say the same about the guys mentioned above with the exception of Diggs/Kelce

You’d be crazy to think that Josh and Pat aren’t interchangeable in his mind.

Bills have 600k more than KC does, both teams will have to do gymnastics to get it done.

Even with same money, I still feel he gets more targets in KC with Kelsey getting up there in age (35, I think?)

I hope it’s Buffalo though.

KC traded up in the 2nd and took WR Rashee Rice.  They spread the ball around regardless.  His opportunities here can be as much as they would in KC.

Diggs 110 receptions

Hopkins 90 receptions

Allen had 359 completions last year

Estimate he gets to 380 this season

so 200/380 go to Diggs & Dhop. Seems realistic to me!

that leaves 70 for Kincaid, 50 for Davis, then 60 between Harty, Sherfield, Shorter, Shakir & the RBs

He'll maybe get more targets because Reid will scheme things up for him. Jury is still out on Dorsey

I can't believe some fans are already trying to rationalize Hopkins possibly going to KC over us. It's an unmitigated disaster if that happens, period. The next time Davis drops a pass that costs us the #1 seed I'll look at our salary cap table and feel better I guess.

Cardinals are already throwing shade at Hopkins....saying he didn't want to play the last 2 games even though he was healthy and that "rubbed people the wrong way'

I think Deion Sanders would call that a business decision.

Either way the Cardinals are a dumpster fire.

Yeah if he goes to KC he will be seen as having just gone along for the ride.    Those rings are empty.   He may not care about that but there is no question about it, IMO.   And considering that there hasn't been a REPEAT SB winner in a generation his odds of winning one with Buffalo are probably about the same,  all things considered.

Randy Moss on the Raiders type thing. Look what happened when the “aging” Moss got a top QB throwing him the ball
